Late Night: For Dan Quayle

Dan Quayle walked out of John Mellencamp concert Friday when he heard Mellencamp introduce his song "Walk Tall" with a dedication "to everyone hurt by policies of the current Bush administration."

For Mr. Qayle, here's what you missed:

Okay, it's late, and I forget the exact rules of what's an antecedent and what is not. But I have to say, I am pretty impressed just that Dan Quayle wrote a song, much less a song critical of Bush!

Thanks, I'll go fix my grammar!

George Bush doesn't care about short people!

Oooooooo.... Dan Quayle got in a tizzy over a song? Well, he was one of those pols who thought the 1st should not apply to musicians, so maybe we will get another dose of idiocy from him. Always good for a laugh.

I guess the truth was a little too much for Mr. Quayle.

Don't fix anything on my account! I am perpetually embarrassed after the click on submit with what I written -- even when I would have sworn I proofread the thing 10 times.

C'mon Sailor...you give Quayle too much credit. He probably only knows "Small Town" and figured Mellencamp was one of them.

If melloncamp has such a positive effect on wingnuts we should try to get them a gig at the WH. It would be less expensive than impeachment.

I went to see JM sing Pink Houses a few months ago and he went on and on about how Indiana (where I live) was not the place he grew up in etc... etc... complained about Bush and blah, blah, blah. Finally some nice Hoosier yelled out..."why don't you start singing or run for president". After that JM kept it to a minimum and started singing again. Everytime he went on one of his rants I went to the mini fridge in the suite to get a beer or headed to the bathroom. Dan Quayle had just as much right to walk out as JM has to bore us with his silly politics. No harm, no foul.

Mellencamp and Kanye West are headlining the Snowmass Aspen Jazz Festival labor day weekend. He'll probably get a better reception for his politics there.

Nobody said he didn't, but given Quayles track record of trying to censor musicians, his being upset at a musician is of particular interest.

    Skybox?

funny that the dull bird would even go see someone that talked about his crimes for years. must be alzheimers or dementia. I understand that schizophrenics can be affected by living in pink houses

Say, if John Mellencamp ever expresses a wish to marry me, PLEASE don't forget to forward the news to me.
