Robert Ray, Clinton Prosecutor Under Starr, Arrested for Stalking

What an ugly story. Allegation: Robert Ray, former Ken Starr associate independent counsel in Monica-gate, is charged with stalking his former lover after they broke up while he was still married. He's also a former N.J. candidate for the U.S. Senate.

The ex-lover says he lied while they were dating and said he was divorced.

His ex-girlfriend, Tracy Loughlin, had told police that Ray - a former GOP Senate candidate from New Jersey - had obsessively followed her and blanketed her with unwanted calls and e-mails after their breakup four months ago.

Interesting side-note:

Loughlin, who works in magazine promotions, was in the news last year after she plunged into the East River in an attempt to save her dog, which had fallen into the icy water. She and the dog were pulled out minutes later by good Samaritans.

    What a creep.

The Whitewater/Monica-gate prosecutors (or special counsel or whatever) always struck me as having the mind-set of stalkers.

Jondee: The New York Daily News is a Mort Zuckerman paper, not a Rupert Murdoch paper. Murdoch runs the New York Post, and they don't even write in complete sentences there. The Post and the News are mortal enemies. From what I've seen, the NYPost has spiked Mr. Ray's story - it's consistent with their editorial policy to do so.
