Rumsfeld Caught in (Another) Lie

by TChris

Donald Rumsfeld speechless? Hard to believe, isn't it?

Speaking in Atlanta today, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was sharply questioned about his pre-war claims about WMD in Iraq. An audience member confronted Rumsfeld with his 2003 claim about WMD, "We know where they are." Rumsfeld falsely claimed he never said it. The audience member then read Rumsfeld's quote back to him, leaving the defense secretary speechless.

Think Progress has the video.

It was priceless watching rummy try to deny his own words. I wish it was a 2 camera shoot, it sounded like the questioner was getting hauled off for telling the truth. Of course, there are so many lies that rummy told, where does one start?
8 Sep 2002 Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tells the House Armed Services Commitee: "[Saddam] has amassed large clandestine stocks of biological weapons... including anthrax and botulism toxin and possibly smallpox. His regime has amassed large clandestine stockpiles of chemical weapons, including VX and sarin and mustard gas... [he] has at this moment stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons."
20 Jan 2003 Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld declares: "Saddam Hussein possesses chemical and biological weapons... His regime is paying a high price to pursue weapons of mass destruction -- giving up billions of dollars in oil revenue. His regime has large, unaccounted for stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons -- including VX, sarin, cyclosarin and mustard gas; anthrax, botulism, and possibly smallpox -- and he has an active program to acquire and develop nuclear weapons."
30 Mar 2003 Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tells This Week with George Stephanopoulos: "the area... that coalition forces control... happens not to be the area where weapons of mass destruction were dispersed. We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."
Just google 'rumsfeld, lies, iraq' for a more complete list.

Why Anyone would waste there time to see a dork like Rumsfeld speak. Perhaps the proceeds went to a good cause like Rumsfeld's pockets. The Man Needs Help not authority. Doesn't anyone see that by applauding him only worsens the situation. The Man is mentally unfit to be out and about in the public.

I saw the tape, a security guard had his hands on him ready to haul him off. A middle-aged woman heckler was hauled off.

Yeah, so? They lied about Iraq, and now they are lying about Iran the same way and still no one cares. The road to never ending war is paved with lies and indifference.

As long as war is regarded as wicked, it will always have it's fascination. When it is looked upon as vulgar, it will cease to be popular. O.W.

The corrosive nihilism at the heart of the enterprise ate through the gaudily-painted surface most tellingly in a single anecdote. Woodward asks George W. Bush how he thinks history will regard his adventure in Iraq. Bush, gazing out the window, shrugs and waves the question away. "History, we don't know," he says. "We'll all be dead."

The guy asking the questions that our castrated media should have been asking...
Ray McGovern, a 27-year CIA veteran who once gave then-President George H.W. Bush his morning intelligence briefings,

Thanks for pointing that out Chupetin...some of the internet sites that had the footage, aired with a reporter stating that Ray McGovern was a 'protestor', and he remained unnamed. It was also said in such a way as to have negative connotations as well. Par for the course with a majority of downward spiral of the media. --Not all media, but anyone who questions McGovern's intentions where he's inclined to obtain an answer here, may find that they have a more 'credible' if you will, source.
