NYPD Detectives Convicted

by TChris

Two "highly decorated" New York City police detectives were each convicted of 70 crimes arising out of their side jobs as hit men for the Luchese crime family. TalkLeft background on the nefarious careers of Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa is collected here. The men were responsible for at least eight murders. They'll be sentenced, presumably to life, on May 22.

Well, as Lewis Black said in his "Back in Black" segment several months ago with respect to these guys. "You can call the Mafia, or you can call the Cops. But you can't call the Mafia Cops!"

There is no mention in the article of any hint that any of their "legit" police work may have been fraudulent or corrupted. But I wonder....

Well, I would imagine every case they ever worked on just gave every defense lawyer instant grounds for appeal. They're at least gonna try. They've got to.

This American system of ours, call it Americanism, call it capitalism, call it what you will, gives each and every one of us a great opportunity if we only seize it with both hands and make the most of it. - Al Capone

Is this the guy that was on 60minutes a couple months ago defending himself? These guys are corrupt cops that are gong to jail. Don't drag the system or anyone else down with them. Meanwhile I can't wait for the next episode of the Soprano's.

You know, with all the evidence of crooked prosecutors, lying informants, fraudulent convictions, etc that are splashed across this site on a near daily basis, you'd think someone here would stand up for these guys, that there's a possibility they were set up. Oh, nevermind, they were cops and none of that counts in their defense.
