Arianna is as enthusiastic as I am about Instapundit Glenn Reynold's new book, An Army of Davids.

The book is a powerful paean to how changes in technology are empowering the little guy to take on the goliaths of Big Media and Big Government. "Small is the new big," says Reynolds....Reynolds also nails how the blogosphere has become an invaluable tool for holding the mainstream media's feet to the fire: "Where before journalists and pundits could bloviate at leisure, offering illogical analysis or citing 'facts' that were in fact false, now the Sunday morning op-eds have already been dissected on Saturday night, within hours of their appearing on newspapers' webites."

Markos and Jerome's book, Crashing the Gates, also is getting great reviews. Here's another one at Slashdot.

Gary Hart's new book, The Shield of the Cloak, is now available. He argues that instead of waging pre-emptive war in the middle east and bolstering our military machinery (the shield), we should be creating a cloak of security here at home.

Hart recognizes that terrorism is "a method of coercion that cannot be defeated by traditional military means." He shares his thoughts on how America can achieve true security -- and on revamping the role of the National Guard. There's lots of food for thought here.

Question is, how effective is the "army of Davids?" We have seen wonderful movements and energy growing in the blogosphere, fighting smears, propaganda, lies and misrepresentations with facts. Where has it gotten us? This country continues to slide rapidly into the Dark Ages. Our government practices making war on the Internet. The "army" is important, but it's nowhere near enough. If we don't take some other steps very soon, this army will be rendered impotent. I just wish I knew what those other steps were.

I think I've got it. Five communities in Vermont have voted to demand that their elected congressional reps work to impeach the prez. I heart VT!

Yeah, Glenn-duh the dumbsnitch is particularly entertaining when he gets on his high horse and demands everyone to the left of him in the blogosphere drop everything, put on the hair shirt, and to the exclusion of all else, spend every waking moment denouncing and apologizing for the despicable words and deeds of some rightfully-obscure, inconsequential career minor league nitwit like Ward Churchill whose odious comments have been endorsed by no one I can recall. The only thing that's been endorsed is his right to make such odious comments. But when he's in turn called upon to condemn the equally-odious words of Ann Coulter, he blows a gasket. Coulter, while easily as contemptible as Churchill in her own inimitable way, unfortunately, is nowhere near as obscure. In fact, she's a major draw on the neo-nazi/wingnut circuit and was a featured speaker at a recent republican retreat on Maryland's Eastern Shore when she made some controversial comments about Muslims. Churchill may well be talking to himself in Bus Station lobbies for all anyone knows. So, once again, the republican party's rank hypocrisy and unwillingness to let themselves be confused by the facts is truly breathtaking.
