Frist Weighs In (Again)

Republicans continue to back away from Sen. Roberts' suggestion that FISA be "fixed" to better allow court review of NSA's domestic wiretaps.

"I'm not sure that's exactly what Pat meant,'' said Chambliss, a Georgia Republican, on CNN's "Late Edition.''

Fixing the law would be an admission that the president acted beyond the law in authorizing domestic surveillance without following FISA procedures. Sen. Frist, who has given the public reason to question his competence to render medical opinions, has even less basis to advance a legal opinion that the president doesn't need court approval to spy on Americans. Frist seems to think judicial oversight is a bad idea:

When asked if the NSA program, which conducts surveillance without warrants, should be reviewed by the court, he said, "I personally don't think so.''

Thanks for weighing in, senator. By the way, did you have a chance to diagnose Harry Whittington based on photographs of his buckshot-riddled face?

    given his publicly displayed lack of medical competence (if you had heart surgery done by this guy, i recommend you see someone else, now.), why should his publicly displayed lack of legal knowledge surprise anyone? however, in his defense, i must point out that his arrogance is, i suspect, borne more from his being a physician, who all think they know everything, than it is from his position in the senate.

    I think his arrogance comes from coming from "good people" as in the title of his book. Hah, the Frists are "good people" who had to pay a billion dollar fine for defrauding Medicare. (Yes, a Billion; just imagine how much they actually stole.)

    What happened to the SEC's investigation of Frist? Was it squelched?
