Jeanine Pirro Quits Senate Race

Bump and Update: It's now official. Jeanine Pirro has issued a statement announcing she's dropping out of the Senate race. She says her heart is in the Attorney General's race. Reuters is less than kind, repeating the worst about Pirro -- her husband:

One political problem for Pirro, who frequently appears on national talk shows and was listed by People Magazine in 1997 as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world, was her marriage. Albert Pirro fathered an out-of-wedlock child and served 11 months in federal prison for tax fraud.

The paper also notes that Jeanine supports abortion and gay rights which conservatives could hold against her. That should be no problem in the AG's race, where she more than overcompensates by wanting life plus cancer for every person charged with a sex offense. [hyperbole, but only slight.]

Original Post:

CNN reports it's official. Jeanine Pirro will drop out of the New York Senate race and run for Attorney General instead. Smart move by Jeanine. She didn't have a snowball's chance in an inferno of winning against Hillary.

Update: Markos at Daily Kos says,

That may have been about the worse Senate run ever. She even made Harris in Florida look good.

Kinda hard to mount a campaign when your fellow rethuglicans are constantly telling you to get out. What's more amazing, rethugs have knocked out the only 2 rethuglican women willing to run for a senate seat. Why do rethuglicans hate women?

Attorney general, eh? Do attorneys general ever have to handle, like, multipage documents? Things like maybe briefs, you know? And give the documents to courts and judges and things like that? Oh, yeah, she's ready to be AG.

That's odd. I thought she should run again for Westchester County DA. And lose. She's simply awful as a prosecutor, so of course, she should be the state's AG. That's republican logic.

Such touching cynicism from one and all but in the end superfluous. Pirro never had a chance and so what? The bigger question for those of us in NY state is how to get rid of another middle of the road apologist, "Miss Flag Burning Amendment 2005", watch that bustier. Notice her siding with the working class in the current transit strike? Her and Bloombie are homies, fugedaboutit. Enough rant, look at Jonathan Tasini Send the carpetbagger home.
