Fitzgerald, John Roberts and TChris: Lawyers of the Year

There are honors, and then there are honors. Lawyers' Weekly has released its list of the year's 11 top lawyers.

It includes Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, Chief Justice John Roberts.... and TChris, who blogs here on TalkLeft.

TChris argued the Booker case in the U.S. Supreme Court, which along with the Fan Fan case argued at the same time by Rosemary Scapicchio of Boston, resulted in the Court's decision that the federal sentencing guidelines are advisory only. The decision is widely referred to as one which revolutionized federal sentencing and turned the existing system on its head.

For newer TalkLeft readers, TChris has been blogging on TalkLeft since December, 2003.

Congratulations, TChris. This really rocks.

    Awesome. Congratulations!

Wow! My gosh! Congratulations, and, thank you!

As a fellow attorney, I am blown away - and mightily impressed. Talk Left, I always knew you were among the best blogs out there, I just didn't know how great you were. Talk about gravitas!

Heartiest congratulations again, TChris. And thanks also from my clients, many of whom received shorter sentences this year than they would otherwise have gotten, or than they already had prior to the resentencing, thanks to your landmark victory.

Congratulations, that's d*mned impressive. Given the number of lawyers in the U.S., that puts you in the top... uhm... 0% or so.

    Cheers!

My congratulations, as well. And thank you for being such a strong advocate for people who need help the most. Also, thanks for sharing your wisdom on this forum.

Congratulations! The highest quality, right here for all of us to read and think about. We're lucky to have TChris and TL.

As much as it bugs the hell out of me to say it, congrats TChris. You are clearly a fine, fine attorney. My hat's off to you.

Kreist, Patrick, lighten up. It's Christmas time. What is this? "Every side I get up on is the wrong side of bed?"

A cop lecturing us about the truth. That's almost funny. Congratulations T Chris!

I deleted Patrick's comment. It wasn't about the award but merely linked to a post TChris had written (which I agreed with) but I didn't want this thread to go off topic.

Thank you to everyone (even Patrick) for your kind words. I greatly appreciate your support and encouragement, and I look forward to continuing my occasional contributions to TalkLeft for as long as Jeralyn will tolerate me.

My comment (Which still appears undeleted) was related to the award.
Except that your comment and link has nothing to do with why he was honored as one of the lawyers of the year. The article clearly explains why TChris was honored as one of the lawyers of the year.

Congratulations TChris. An honor well deserved I'm sure.

Petty Patrick might almost make sense if TChris was somehow involved in the Cory Maye case. Since this is not so, it's pretty strange for him to start linking to random opinions that he disagrees with in a thread wherein even other members of the TL Loyal Opposition managed to post sensible compliments. I guess sometimes a man just can't leave any stone unturned his quest to supply a neverending drone of contrarian BS.

and if Scarshapedstar would have read the comments on the linked thread, he'd understand my post and not make such pointless arguments.

Although I share Patrick's disgust at the comments in question, the work TC did in other areas has been top rate this year. Congrats for an honor earned TC.

My comment (Which still appears undeleted) was related to the award. If it was disturbing to some that is unfortunate, however, I stand by it and encourage debate its accuracy. If it is later shown to be wrong then I will retract it and admit my error. [No Patrick, you won't get the chance because you are not allowed to hijack the thread.]
