Crawford Protestors Arrested

by TChris

McLennan County, Texas, hoping to protect the president from the negative publicity that attended Cindy Sheehan’s protest outside the grounds of his Crawford ranch, enacted new ordinances that prohibit parking and camping along roadsides within several miles of the ranch. The ordinances didn’t deter the dozen anti-war protestors who were arrested today, bringing a new wave of the very publicity that the president’s local supporters hoped to avoid.

The arrests were made by more than two dozen deputies who calmly approached the demonstrators in their tents and asked if they wanted to walk out on their own or be carried. Two chose to be carried. They were to be taken to jail for booking.

Happy Thanksgiving, courtesy of McLennan County.

You'd think Bush, a wealthy guy who'll never have to want for anything in his life, would be a big enough man, an evolved enough human being, to say "No, let them camp out all they want, let them protest, as long as they're not hurting anyone let them be free Americans questioning their government." But I guess that's asking too much in America today.

That's the one thing that really puzzles me about Republicans. They'll whine about how these people could have been terrorists or something, but we all know that a real man wouldn't give a sh*t. Heck, a real man wouldn't call himself a cowboy yet be too chicken to ride a horse. In fact, most little girls aren't afraid to ride a horse. Must be a steely-eyed-man-of-action thing. We daren't question it.

"People should feel comfortable about expressing their opinions about Iraq," Bush said, three days after agreeing with Vice President Dick Cheney that the critics were "reprehensible." ...except in Crawford, George?

The next step is to implement the 7-mile dissent-free bubble while Bush is in the White House as well.

Oh for heaven sake hasn't that wall-eyed woman and her psycophants tired of thier sophmoric encampments. They can do what they want but it is becoming a rather '60's childish thing. Peace, Love, Dope and all... I guess this is what happens when Jerry Garcia dies and the Gratful Dead are dead and Phish retire. In other words, Grow Up.

Scar: LMAO!!!!! Right on target, as always. The Bush League is getting pretty redundant in this area, aren't they? Yet, no one seems to care enough to make a difference. The Bush League professes deification for The Rule Of Law in the spotlight of public opinion while they seek to gut any and all laws that they don't like in the shadows of government agencies and through willing proxies and shills - thereby unmasking their real selves. Just as this administration has been about increasing the size of government (with the tired excuse of 9/11/24/7) while decreasing its utility to the average American, it has also been about increasing the punitive reach of the law (through executive fiat) while decreasing its utility to the average American. Sound familiar? It's called fascism. Think of it as government by the oligarchy, of the oligarchy, and for the oligarchy. And get used to it.
