Miers Blog Blackout

The withdrawal of Harriet Miers nomination today was the ultimate boondoggle - timed to distract us from tomorrow's indictment news.

It's not going to work on TalkLeft. I'm declaring a blackout on Harriet Miers posts until after the news of the Indictments subsides a little - at least until Saturday. That is the real news. I'm not going to feed into the Administration's spin plan.

For those of you who want to talk about Miers, please use the comments to the three posts from earlier today.

Good idea. I said this morning on another blog that the timing of this withdrawal was obviously done to try and distract from the indictments coming tomorrow. It's like another terror alert. Bush is the little boy who cried wolf one too many times

George Bush is not Snidely Whiplash. I know politics involves a lot of sneaky tricks, but the presumed machinations have reached comic book levels of silliness. Anytime Bush & friends do anything, it's a carefully timed distraction from whatever cause the Left is sniffing after that day. In this case, it's a plot to keep the media from writing about nothing happening for the second (third?) day in a row. Mwa ha ha! (Full disclosure: I like comic books)

JenD: Bush is the little boy who cried wolf one too many times. Bush has spent his entire small "p" presidency crying wolf, and insulting the intelligence of the entire country, and the world, by thinking no one would ever notice. Roy: George Bush is not Snidely Whiplash. True... Snidely, at least, needed someone else to foil his plans. Bush does it to himself:
Bush's selection of White House counsel Harriet Miers, an unknown with no judicial experience, was no less than outright treason to the conservative cause. They wanted a fire-breathing conservative judge who would vote to send America back into the dark ages. ... Bush, who never really had to fight for anything in his life, is battered and bruised by ever-increasing setbacks to his presidency and is clearly tired... Or maybe it's the drugs and booze. ... Bush's image was just that - image. No substance, no backbone, no leadership. ... Sooner or later the façade had to crumble so the shallow frat boy, bored with yet another job he could not handle, could emerge. ... When the final chapter is written on the failed Presidency of George W. Bush, it will show the man whose only talent was an ability to point the finger of blame at others had, in the end, no one left to blame but himself. --- A Cardboard Cowboy - By Doug Thompson (at Capitol Hill Blue via Axis of Logic)

Hear, hear. Who cares about Miers? I don't even know who (s)he is, and I care even less.
