The Shakespearian Bush

Earlier today, I referenced Libby and Cheney using Bob Dylan lyrics. Several commenters chimed in, with additonal Dylan song lyrics.

Arianna uses Shakespeare, particularly Macbeth, to explain the turmoil now going on in the White House. It's a great read and I love the part about Dick Cheney being Lady Macbeth.

As Arianna says, "Double, double, toil and trouble!"

The RNC spin portrays Valerie Plame as Lady MacBeth. While Judith Miller suits me fine, Run Amok controlled the NYT, with a nod from her Lord King Sulzberger jr. Thinking of Cheny as Lady MacBeth is quite entertaining. I can almost see him in a dress.

Interestingly, TL, I've had a Dylan lyric in my head the past few weeks and it hasn't been mentioned yet: ...Oh it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard.. It's a hard rain..... gonna fall...

Maybe it's time for a new rock opera, kind of like Tommy.

Jeralyn that's actually quite brilliant. You should contact Andrew Lloyd Weber and Mel Brooks and start pitching it to Broadway. Think "The Producers" meets "Jesus Christ Superstar"

actually, i was thinking more along the lines of "out, damn spot!" as cheney tries desperately to rid his hands of the stain of rove & libby.

And who's MacDuff, the vanquishing hero who was "from his mother's womb untimely ripped"? Fitzgerald or Joe Wilson?

Good to see the great ones going with the classic Shakespeare. But what comes after Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow . . . This story isn't over.
