Via Crooks and Liars: Today is the third anniversary of Senator Paul Wellstone's death.

I happened to be in St. Paul, Minn. the day he died. It was awful, as I recounted here.

When is another liberal hero going to come along? It can't happen soon enough for me.

    i had just flown in to mpls that day and was on the highway up to duluth when i heard the news... i felt crushed and still can't shake the ugly suspicion that it might not have been an accident... when i got to duluth, my daughter was still in tears... a tragic loss...

    charley, whatever you thought of the funeral, "the left" was not actually in attendance, individual human beings were. and they reacted to other people in attendance who had continually stood against everything wellstone had, and lambasted him in the process (he was "a socialist" to the right, along with other choice political expletives). and that is that. raucous funerals actually happen. that was definitely one of them.

    nothing about his death, though, was so tragic that the left wouldn't make an absolute disgraceful circus out of his funeral.
    Or that Charley wouldn't make another worthless troll post about it. Unbelievable. Didn't your mother ever tell you about what you should do when you have nothing nice to say?

    You know, at this point, I can pretty much read where Charley stands on an issue and feel comfortable believing the opposite. Didn't Seinfeld do a show like that?

    There will be another, and soon. At this point, almost all liberals look pretty heroic, especially when compared to wrong-wingers such as charley... This is a man's death being remembered charley... A man with friends, and family... And millions of supporters. And people like you showed up to his funeral and turned it political. So get bent.

    Even though I'm from Florida, I often felt that Paul Wellstone represented me more than my elected representatives. He is remembered and missed.

    Charley, The left was sad more people weren't killed in New Orleans??? And their joy at the 2000th service member killed??? Not even A CHILD would make such a ridiculous statement. You, my dear deluded American, have crossed the line into the realm of genuine psychological malady. Get some therapy, gets some medication, whatever it takes, and get your brain chemistry back in order. BTW, my brother is one of those soldiers mired in this mess, so I must be sitting around waiting to celebrate his and his buddies' deaths, eh? Get help, Chuck, get some love, become a fully human being.

    Paul Wellstone was that rarest of American phenomena--a powerful politician who also happened to be a decent human being. This more than anything explains why he cast so many lonely, lonely votes. So.... Instead of arguing about his funeral, a.k.a. taking the bait from the reeking likes of Charley, we need to be taking TL's lead and asking ourselves how to get more decent human beings interested in running for higher office. That's the proper tribute to Paul Wellstone.

    Another thread charley had trolled into inanity. Wellstone was murdered, along with his whole family. What a loss. I Blame Bush.
