Bitter Bush Plays The Blame Game

One might think that the president who represents "the party of personal responsibility" would accept responsibility for his failures. Not so, according to this article. Instead, the president is peevish about the failures of others within his administration.

Bush is so dismayed that "the only person escaping blame is the President himself," said a sympathetic official, who delicately termed such self-exoneration "illogical."

Logic was never the president's strongest asset. Divine inspiration has served in its stead, but reality has produced bad news, so the president's staff is feeling his wrath.

Presidential advisers and friends say Bush is a mass of contradictions: cheerful and serene, peevish and melancholy, occasionally lapsing into what he once derided as the "blame game." ... At the same time, these sources say Bush, who has a long history of keeping staffers in their place, has lashed out at aides as his political woes have mounted.

"The President is just unhappy in general and casting blame all about," said one Bush insider. "Andy [Card, the chief of staff] gets his share. Karl gets his share. Even Cheney gets his share. And the press gets a big share."

The vice president remains Bush's most trusted political confidant. Even so, the Daily News has learned Bush has told associates Cheney was overly involved in intelligence issues in the runup to the Iraq war that have been seized on by Bush critics.

    It's amazing to me how Bushs handlers sold the completely false image of hime being a resolute, solid leader to the american public. If anyone had bothered to pay any attention to his gubernatorial stint they would have seen a smaller version of things to come in the his presidential career. But they main thing a partial observer would have noticed is the dependence on image over substance. And who wouldn't expect the finger pointing from Bush if they truly understood that he isn't a cowboy but a petulant, elitist, East Coast power establishment lovin', prep school goin', spoiled whelp of a wannabe Texan? He is never wrong(kinda sounds like a certain poker player that sleazes around here)and can't stand to be seen as the effete richboy he really is.

    Logic was never the president's strongest asset. It's gotta be stronger than his sense of responsibility, which has always been (IMO) the real issue with this administration. Tell me again--what is his strong suit? Just the ability to gull the gullible?

    God Talks To Bush From Bottom of Jack Daniels Bottle. Says End Times are Near. As he passed out, Bush was heard to aver: "And I want to know who the leakers are." Probably hiding under the pillows of his couch. "Them leakinators are going to get medals. Especially if they know what daddy wants for Xmas: More Jack Daniels, baybee!"

    Et al - From the linked article we read:
    "This is not some manager at McDonald's chewing out the help," said a source with close ties to the White House when told about these outbursts. "This is the President of the United States, and it's not a pleasant sight."
    You have to have doubts about the veracity of the article when you take the time to actually read what was said. 1. This is a source with “close ties.” 2. Yet the source has not seen what is claimed, but instead, has been “told.” 3. The source then says…..”and it is not a pleasant sight.” If I was on a jury, I’d never convict on such obviously confused testimony.

    There have been stories about his nasty temper all along but most of his supporters ignored them. It's a result of his inner rage and obsessive personality. He has seldom allowed anyone to challenge him and reports of his verbal abuse aren't uncommon. Reading some of his biographical information it's clear that someone has always been there to bail him out of his failures. It will be good to see him standing alone for a change. His choice of Harriet Miers is a classic example of his abilities when left to make crucial decisions on his own. Well, actually Bernie was another good example of his skewed sense of choosing appropriate nominees. Come to think of it, he should have done more research before naming Flanigan to Dep AG and the Abramoff connection would've been obvious.... ....gonna be a long 3 years, but interesting. Pass the popcorn and send GWB some more Zoloft or something that chases well with the JD.

    So, Jim's argument is that Bush is perfectly happy? Geez, give it up on the contrarianism for once.

    chumpley, what are you talking about? Yeah I read the article and you know what, it backs up the facts that the man is completely untouched by reality. and apparently so are you, because he is from an East Coast power family, he is a wannabe Texan, he went to prep school at Andover(where, even if you could afford it, wouldn't let you in since your blood isn't blue enough), and he continues to fool sheep like you into thinking he is resolute and decisive. A real leader sees when they have screwed up and they take responsibility. Unlike Bush, he likes to blame everything and everyone except himself. The buck stops at his desk but apparently nobody alerted him to that fact.
