Condolences to LA Attorney Robert Shapiro

TalkLeft's sympathies and best thoughts go out today to Los Angeles Attorney Robert Shapiro. Page Six reports:

WE extend our condolences to O.J. Simpson lawyer Robert Shapiro on the loss of his son. Brent Edward Shapiro, 24, died Monday afternoon after an apparent drug overdose. Sources say Brent attended a football game over the weekend and ingested some ecstasy at a party. His girlfriend found him unconscious and took him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. Authorities confirmed he died of a drug overdose and the family has consented to a toxicology screen. Calls to Shapiro's office were not returned.

What a nightmare. The TL kid is 24, and most of my friends' kids are about that age. It's something we all worry about and just keep our fingers crossed they either take a pass or know their limits. To Bob, my sincerest condolences. I feel for you, and my thoughts are with you in this difficult time. For those of you going to temple tomorrow on Yom Kippur, say a prayer for Brent, Bob and the entire Shapiro family.

My heartfelt condolences to Mr. Shapiro and his family. In past I've had very sadly awakening experiences dealing with family members of tenants who had overdosed. If only people who produce these drugs thought more of the effects of their actions and the helplessness the families of heir victims feel, it might not happen so often...

So sad. No parent should ever have to experience this loss. My heart goes out to this family.

I think I'll hug my 16 year old tonite. He went through his "pot stage" already and is now a health nut jock. Knock on wood. Condolences to the Shapiro family.

I did X a few times when it was legal, it became a CDS in June,1990. I've wondered if it's illegality has something to do with the problems associated with it right now. Anyway, Robert Shapiro, from what I've seen in TV interviews, is a very nice guy. Very sorry to here about his son's death. Bless them all.

There is almost nothing worse than outliving your child. My heart goes out to any/all who have experienced this. I had a couple of comments extending LWW's post but I will save them for a better forum.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Shapiro and his family: If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.John Donne - 1623

My condolence to the Shapiro family you upon your loss. I know too well the power of addiction and the stigma that goes along with it. As a person with sixteen years of recovery from alcohol and drugs, I know that addiction is too powerful. Often, the shame, guilt, and stigma is more lethal than the drug itself. Speaking up on this issue is needed. We are holding a community rally and demonstration against crystal meth on Thursday and need your help. Please email me at rzaldivar@thewalllasmemorias.org
