Dobson's Version of What Rove Said About Miers

Focus on the Family James Dobson aired a broadcast Wednesday disclosing what Karl Rove told him about Harriet Miers the weekend before she was nominated. I agree with Markos of Daily Kos, it sounds like spin.

But we also talked about something else, and I think this is the first time this has been disclosed. Some of the other candidates who had been on that short list, and that many conservatives are now upset about were highly qualified individuals that had been passed over. Well, what Karl told me is that some of those individuals took themselves off that list and they would not allow their names to be considered, because the process has become so vicious and so vitriolic and so bitter, that they didn't want to subject themselves or the members of their families to it.

Crooks and Liars adds its criticism here.

[Dobson] goes on to say that all these other great candidates were too terrified to go through the confirmation process because it's so vicious (new GOP Talking point). I guess Harriet Miers isn't the most qualified pick, she's the one with the most guts.

I can't wait to see hypocrite, James Dobson, testify before Congress. I think he's a liar, and not that good a liar.

Sounds more to me like everyone on the short list had too much dirt they didn't want to see dredged up from their pasts ;)

The Republican lie machine is in full spin now...Dan "I'll tell any Republican lie" Abrams completely bought the Dobson excuse that Rove only told him Miers was a good Christian... no wonder he is a tv lawyer ..

I just heard Dobson on MSNBC say that Rove did NOT give him any assurances that Miers would vote to overturn Roe v Wade. Since he told his followers that he was supporting Miers because of the “information” from Rove that he “shouldn’t have”, they should be mad at Dobson. He either lied to them or lied on MSNBC. It is safe to say he is a liar.

KD, Right on. Those cowards are breaking my heart. Roberts didn't seem to have a whole lot of difficulty. All he had to do was sit and listen to some self absorbed speeches and say absolutely nothing.
