No Surprise: Roy Moore Running for Gov in AL

by Last Night in Little Rock

This should be no surprise to anyone: Ex-Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, ousted by the state judicial discipline commission for openly defying a federal court order to remove his monument to the Ten Commandments after losing all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, is running for Governor of Alabama as noted here on Paper Chase.

It was always assumed that the whole charade was to start a run for Governor. It is now coming to fruition.

That's going to be a fun race to watch. You've also got Loretta Nall (Chair of US Marijuana Party), running on platform of states rights, drug policy reform, prison reform, Alabama out of Iraq, and no gun control.

As an Alabamaian I am throughly disturbed by his entering the race, although everybody here knew he was going to. People are trying to write him off, but he has a good chance of winning.

I wonder if as Governor he will ignore the law like he did before he got fired from being a Judge?

I also live in Alabama. I don't think he has a chance. I think a democrat will have a real chance this time.

I don't know about Deb but it seems Tal has already branded me negatively on his website. That's too bad really. We have never met. If Tal thinks drug policy and prison reform are not vital to Alabama and that I am a "kook" (as he so eloquently put it) for stating that they are then perhaps he hasn't cracked a newspaper in a while. There is only one certifiable kook in the 2006 gubernatorial election and that is Roy Moore.
