According to a prosecution motion filed Tuesday in Palm Beach, Rush Limbaugh's doctors are to be questioned in his "Doctor Shopping" case as reported here.

Previous posts in the Limbaugh investigation are April 7, 04, June 4, 04, Oct. 6, 04, Nov. 17, 04, April 28, 05, and July 7, 05. This list does not include articles about Limbaugh's rank hypocrisy for urging jail for addicts, such as this one.

    Maybe Rush will also go to the slammer--when it rains, it pours. Lots of frog-marching this fall.

    Rush seems to be most in need of a good lockdown rehab stint. A solid six months of sobriety and exposure to those underbelly residents at whose expense he's long made a fat and vicious living. Which seems the appropriate "sentence" for any person obviously out of control and wreaking havoc on the system of rational distribution that should be our policy. Or let him get reamed in A-block. Tho in moments of lefty vengegeance I ponder the latter, the former, I know, is the more just "punishment".

    What about doctor/patient priveledge? I know the prosecutor is saying they will only ask questions that pertain to "doctor shopping", but what the hell is that exactly? Are there actual "doctor shopping" laws on the books? As much as Rush is in need of a dose of karma , I can't condone prosecutors invading the doctor/patient relationship, especially over a two-bit pill popper like Rush.

    Dog, Agreed. I guess I'm arguing a different issue, a hypothetical. That even in a drug-legal society, uncontrollable, but not necessarily criminal, addicts will have to be dealt with in a more humane and effective manner than "well, they have the right to go down snorting or shooting or smoking to the end, even if they do take someone out with them". As a good lefty I have to be prepared for the effects of my legalized enlightenment.

    So now we are limited in the numbers of doctors we can go to? I am SO glad government isn't getting involved in health care.

    Jen, I think the point is that you can't go to different doctors to get the same scrip. IOW, "secretly obtaining overlapping prescriptions."

    I know I'm like a freakin' broken record, but.... It's Rush's liver, let him pollute it to his hearts content. It's a lifestyle choice, it shouldn't be a criminal matter. Dadler, as any addiction specialist will attest, you can't make a person quit, they have to want it. I say make affordable treatment available to all who want it (no court mandated rehab nonsense), and that's about we can do in regards to the problems associated with drug abuse. As for drug use, I don't see any problems arising from that alone.

    How would you feel about this case if Rush used his cash and his hired assistants to get large amounts of Rx drugs for RESALE on the street? What happens when a 16 year old buys from him, and OD's? What is the recourse of those parents? Turn off his radio program? DOCTORS support these doctor-shopping laws because they understand what a mess is created if prescription drugs aren't tracked and regulated. Furthermore, it's a matter of justice to apply the laws fairly to anyone, money and political connections aside. We have a stake in the rich being held accountable like the poor are.

    kdog, I agree with you, but the DOJ doesn't. So what would happen if rush made any of those buys within 1000 feet of a school? How about if rush owns a weapon? Seeya rush, don't let bubba 'hit' you in the a$$ on your way in;-)
