Amtrak Power Failure Delays Thousands to Anti-War Protests

Thousands of anti-war protesters en route to D.C. from major Northeast cities were delayed for hours due to an Amtrak power failure.

In a hitch for some coming to the protest, 13 Amtrak trains running between New York and Washington were delayed for up to three hours Saturday morning for repair of overhead electrical lines. Protest organizers said that held up thousands coming to the rally.

Organizers delayed the start of the march, originally planned to begin at 12:30 p.m., to wait for protesters arriving on the Amtrak trains. There were other reports of Metro delays in northern Virginia on the Blue and Yellow lines.

Coincidence?

    Of course, it's coincidence, just like Robert Fisk not being permitted into the US because of anything other than paperwork problems. What? You think we live in a country in the early throes of fascism, where laws are overturned if they restrict the powerful,where torture is routinely practiced on enemies, where the powerless are completely ignored, and all but the least media-significant dissent is undermined, marginalized, or blatantly suppressed? Oh, please, that would be shrill, shrill, shrill.

    Coincidence? Sure, sh*t happens. Whether it accounts for the rather low head count on CSPAN or that there just isn't that much interest in the whole shindig is hard to say. Me? I'll go with the latter. I noticed that those lovely folks from Code Pink abandonded thier weekly Friday evening harrassment of the wounded soldiers in front of Walter Reed Hospital when others with a different opinion showed up to counter-protest. Or maybe they were just resting up to march with the rather pathetic rally today organized by S.W.P. and A.N.S.W.E.R. I know that thousands can be 2,000 but its use just is a rhetorical trick to make it sound like it was really large when it was definately kind of small. I sure it would have been much larger if AmTrak was running on time. Hey if this really were a fascist country the trains would be running on time, now wouldn't they?

    There is an intersting post on the HuffPost site about the rally today. It seems that the enthusiasism level was as low as the head count.

That's a laugh. Walter Reed which Bush is planning on CLOSING. Counter-protesters show up and do their violence, and then they leave, and CodePink is STILL THERE protesting. Bush thugs don't scare us. Bush blows the arms and legs off of soldiers, blinds them, deafens them, castrates them, and then they sneak them in the back door, blocking the press from showing America the true cost of the LIES that led to the carnage. CodePink is there protesting in support of the troops, and there are quite a few veterans protesting with them, and you know it. Those wounded soldiers are victims of George Bush, who has cut their combat pay, cut their benefits (to two years after combat service), cut VA funding, charged them for their own bandages, and played golf while they got their legs blown off. He's a real hero, and Jimcee, you're another just like him. A smirk and a croc tear, and then you lie in the gas of your ignorance and hatred, and snore like a pig.

    Well it stands to reason that if Bush were dropped through time to replace Il Duce, the trains wouldn't be running on time, see? It's the Bush reverse-Midas touch.

    The idea that the trains ran on time in fascist Italy is a complete myth.

    An important point, Kevin. • The whole 'battle with government troops' in Mussolini's 'March to Rome' NEVER took place. Fake(d) history is a staple of fascist politicos. • A soldier who participated in the capture of Hussein outed the Spider Hole story as fake(d)by military psy-ops for DOMESTIC use. Military psy-ops for domestic use is unconstitutional. Deploying supposedly-deputized MERCS in a US state is unconstitutional. Deploying mercs in a foreign invasion with no code of justice over them is unconstitutional. These things offend our common sense of justice and freedom. Such a pattern of unconstitutionality is the evidence of treason.
