If anyone deserves to be fired (other than the president), it’s Michael Brown, who has no clue how to respond to disasters, despite his position as the head of FEMA. As TalkLeft reported, the Times-Picayune asked the president to fire Brown immediately.

Not gonna happen. The question now is whether the president will follow the precedent he set with the incompetent George Tenet by awarding Brown the presidential medal of freedom.

    It's not just the Times-Picayune, and it's not just liberals calling for Brown's firing. I never thought I'd see the day that I'd agree with notorious conservative Michelle Malkin, but that day is here.
    This is not the time to give a weak performer the benefit of the doubt. The FEMA director's role in the ongoing recovery effort is too important to be entrusted to a clueless political hack with such poor judgment. Rather than praise Michael Brown, Bush should fire him.

    Yes, yes, by all means a Bush Medal of Freedom for Brownie, and, so we shouldn't hurt his feelings, another Bush Medal of Freedom for Chertoff (aka Skeletor).

    I think he was leaning towards a firing, but then VH1 Classic played Corey Hart's "Never Surrender" video. And the rest is history.

    Maybe Arabian horse-breeding isn't so similar to disaster relief after all? Who would have thought?

    Dubya gave George Tenet a medal, for crying out loud. That being said, what makes any of you think he's going to fire a stooge based on competence. Regardless of political persuasion, none who post here have ever seen this President admit fallibility either in himself or in terms of his underlings. And again, regardless of political persuasion, if any of you knew someone like that in your personal life you would end up viewing them unfavorably, to say the least.

    McClellan was up for his weekly butt chewing and basically said that the failing administrators must be kept in their positions in order to continue their work.

    Laura Rozen at War and Piece thinks Brown may have already been "disappeared" by higher ups.
