Stupid Arrest of the Week

by TChris

Authorities in New Orleans have created a temporary facility (chain link pens topped with razor wire) to hold recently arrested individuals. One might expect law enforcement officers to have a sense of priority in the wake of the disaster, but they’re arresting people for disturbing the peace (what peace?) and for possessing small amounts of drugs. This arrest is beyond stupid:

One man had mooned a state police car on patrol.

Bah! I'd wager that the "arrest" was just an excuse to put him on the next bus, train, or plane out of New Orleans.

They've been overwhelmed - simply overwhelmed. This is only to create the semblance of order.

Can that go under stupid arrest *and* stupid criminal of the week? Those guys have been through hell for a week, making an effort to p**s them off is not the brightest thing to do. And he succeeded, he should be happy!

No rest for the weary I guess. I seriously doubt mooning or smoking a doobie is a threat to law and order down there, I wonder what the person who ordered these arrests is smoking.

Ah, it may yet be seen as the first of many shots across the bow that lead to a larger, angrier, more organized movement that finally, once and for all gets at the heart of what these Immoral, Indifferent, and Dishonest Republican thugs have been doing systematically to our own bare behinds these last five-plus years.

The moon-shot heard 'round the world?

Well, I guess when your entire existence revolves around power tripping and pulling rank on other people, you'll take what you can get.

A new gitmo on the gulf. Haliburton will fix it up. They lose the right to vote but are counted for representation. They become controlled subjects of the neocon monarchy. Better for republicans, great idea and good for the economy. heh heh heh.
