Off Site Server Issues

Blogads is having trouble with one of their image servers that spilled onto other servers. While they are fixing it, I stripped the links to ads on TalkLeft because the site was loading so slowly, if at all.

Hopefully, this will make it faster for those of you reading and commenting.

Update: Ads are back.

We are also experiencing increased traffic as a result of Katrina coverage. If you are a regular commenter at the site, please consider using the "permalink" link to post and read comments rather than the "comments" link. The individual entry pages have a comment box on them, and those pages are statically-generated. The "comments" page is dynamically-generated every time you visit it, and that puts a lot more load on the server.

Michael, Sometimes it loads very fast and others very slow. I don't think I'm doing anything different than usual. Just thought you'd like to hear.

Patrick, it all has to do with how many simultaneous requests the server is processing. If it's a busy time, the server will queue requests and process them in the order in which they are received (kind of like when you call the cable company).
