Open Thread: Comments are Open

Due to the problems with Typekey, comment registration is turned off. Anyone can comment. I'm rebuilding all the individual entries now so it works on older entries. I have to leave for court soon, so here's an open thread for you.

Great reads: Digby on "judy in da skies" and Actor Tim Russert . Arianna's latest on The Judy Tsunami.

Say the NYPD: we don't keep dossiers! link Oh, and note the seals on the letterhead: "Executive Office of the President of the United States" [Ed. links must be in html format, we fixed this one, future ones will be deleted, they skew the site. Instructions are in comment box.]

At a time when dissent is considered by many to be a treasonous act the words Typekey and turnkey are too eerily similar.

So do you understand what will happen in the future with oil and gas for your cars and how much things will go up and up in the coming years? and do you really understand what your kids lives will be like in this coming hell?..some words..think out of the box and thing out of this insane and corrupt government you can remake it. think of this, no hospitals no bankbooks no laws to stop child labor no human or civil rights no cops only death units to keep you in line no fireman or postman no schools no laws about working you to death no free press only a controlled system of political propaganda. all this and much more will become your future.

JM, things seem much more lively and interesting here without Typekey, imo.

I'm sure some comments will need to be purged later however. I note also that this site continues to use the idiotic nofollow tags on comments.

I've been waiting for years to buy a brand new cadillac But now that I've got one I want to send it right back I can't afford the gas to fill my luxury limousine But even if I had the dough no one's got no gasoline I went to my local dealer to see if he could set me straight He said there's a little gas going but I'd have to wait But he offered some red hot speed and some really high grade hash But a gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere for any amount of cash I can score you some coke and some grade one grass But I can't get a gallon of gas I've got some downers some speed all the drugs that you need But I can't get a gallon of gas There's no more left to buy or sell There's no more oil left in the well A gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere For any amount of cash

kdog - I wasn't spoofing. I topped off all my vehicles with about 40 gallons Sunday night. I figure I saved $20.00. But, at $70. a barrel I don't believe we will experience any shortages.... of gas. (Cash, yes.) et al - Maybe we should all sit down and say: Why haven't they built any new refining capacity in 40 years? Could it be because of the uncertain environmental and legal situation? Could it be becase of the problems associated with changing blends and shipping to areas with different blend demands? Nahhh... All those oil guys are just evilllllll.

A variety of factors are in play. Auto mfgs. production and customer demand for gas guzzling behemoths, price gouging, differing blend standards by state, refining capabilities...a long list. But wouldn't the $70 price indicate a shortage of supply? I'm still waiting for the feds to do an emergency repeal or reduction of gas taxes. A minimum wage worker's hourly wage (after taxes) barely covers a gallon of gas. I see hard times ahead. Anybody know where I can get a good deal on a wood-burning stove come winter?

Already have sarc. I bought some schwag instead of the good stuff last night at a savings of $25, and I'm getting some cigs smuggled in from the south at a savings of $25 a carton.

Regardless, time for wage earners to ask for a raise, we have eaten the rising cost of living long enough.
