July 4th: Listen to the President

"This Fourth of July, I ask you to find a way to thank the men and women defending our freedom by flying the flag..." -George W. Bush

Signpainting parties against the war are being organized across the country over the 4th of July weekend with posting scheduled to start on the 5th. So far we have over 400 confirmed freewaybloggers for this action and should have well over a thousand by week's end.

I agree JR, if we impeach the murdering bastids who sent them there then we bring them home it will make them and their families feel good.

Yeah, James, they prefer the back of Bush's hand. I'll be at my post in the protest on the 4th again this year. Unlike the Freeway Blogger, I stand with mine, which on the 4th means I will again get to 'discuss' my civil rights with half the cops in town. Beats being on the side of a traitor like Bush, James.

Wave a flag. Great. Imagine how much quicker WWII would have gone if we had abandoned those silly policies of national sacrifice and waved flags instead.

    Yes, scar, much faster: WWII: Began 12/7/41 Ended 8/7/45 = 3.7 years GWOT: Began 9/11/01 Ended ? Today 7/1/05 = 3.7 years

I think you'll find 9/3/39 in fact. The rest of the world did not just sit around waiting for y'all to join in. Just the kind of Americentric view that so endears us to our allies.

If you like, WWII started with the Japanese invasion of China in 1937. Now who's being 'centric, eh Delta?

Sinocentricity, I like it ! How about The Treaty of Versailles ? 6/28/19. (I'm sure PPJ will be along directly with his usual hysterical history lesson )

Or would that be Nipponcentric ?

DeltaSlyHoney, I think jackl's point was that the US entered WWII as a combatant on 12/7/41. The US entered the WOT on 9/11/01. Israel probably considers they entered the WOT at the establishment of their state But since the post was IRT 4th o' July I think the US centric dates were understandable. BTW, DeltaSlyHoney is a great handle. I don't know what it means but the possibilities have kept my left brain entertained.

Point conceded on that basis. You can Gooooogle DSH for handle origin if you like (though you might be disappointed). Lived in Euroland for a few years now and picking up their worldview I guess. No offence intended.

No offense taken. It just seemed to me all of the comments had the same POV and might have gotten bogged down in details. re the handle, I'm rarely disappointed, (it's been too many years under bushco;-) and notice how I said the LEFT brain was engaged;-)
