I'm sad to report that TChris's father has died. He will be in California for the next week attending to funeral arrangements and being with family. If you'd like, you can post condolences in the comments. All of our parents are getting older. TL's dad died three years ago and it was very sad. It must be really hard a week before father's day. My thoughts and prayers are with TChris today.

I'm very sorry to hear Chris's sad news. I lost my father a year ago this week, and I know the tremendous impact it has, much more than I ever expected. I'm glad his dad lived long enough to revel in Chris's landmark Supreme Court performance this past fall. Given Chris's talents as a writer and blogger-analyist, and his generous spirit in dedicating his professional life to assisting the underdog, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn that his father was a source of intellectual and ethical inspiration.

My heartfelt condolences to TChris and his family. When my mom died four years ago I was thunderstruck that the world hadn't stop...at least for a moment. Prayers and a lit candle.

Condolences and best wishes. Parents are supposed to be around forever, and when that's proven wrong it's very difficult.

Condolences seem so small at a time such as this, but I offer them in the hope that they will help ease the pain just a little bit.

I'm so sorry. As PPJim writes, condolences seem like so small a thing; I wish there were more one could say.

It's awful to lose a parent, but when my Dad died (Mom passed a long time ago) I took some meager comfort in the fact that it would have been so much worse if any of his children had passed before him. The thing that surprised me the most was, in late middle age, I still felt like an orphan. It's been 10 years, and I still miss my Dad, wish I could call him up and talk about stuff. I still catch myself thinking "Dad would like this" and have to make that mental shuffle to "Dad would have liked this." Ah hell, I wish it would rain. TChris, my most sincere sympathies and heartfelt wishes.
