Joe Trippi Unveils 'Change America'

This afternoon, Joe Trippi will unveil 'Change America' during a blog conference call originating at O'Hare airport where he will be gathered with United Airlines flight attendants who recently lost their pensions.

The Internet-based campaign will provide information and tools to help Americans organize for action in their communities against irresponsible corporate behavior. Trippi, who raised the effectiveness of Internet campaigning as campaign manager for Howard Dean, will talk with bloggers about Change America’s first project: urging action against corporations that dump employee pensions while management feathers its own nest.

The blog conference call will originate from the headquarters of the United Airlines flight attendants in Chicago. Trippi will unveil the new Web site, www.changeamerica.com, along with the Internet grassroots project.

The site will also highlight the attack on retirement security. I can't particpate in the call, but check the website later this afternoon, it's a good cause.

actually and unfortunately, we the taxpayers are going to be paying their pensions. it may be time to let United die a semi-honorable death rather than have the continuing bankruptcy fiasco. I believe the bankruptcy bar has feathered its nest more than any executive to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.

Actually and Fortunately, the airlines (and other corporations) entered into an agreement with their employees when they formed their pension plans, and should be forced to pay the debts they owe. I find it sad that so many on the Right who called for "bankruptcy" reform as something necessary to make people pay their debts, engage their congnitive dissonance and embrace the double standard that people should pay their debts, but corporations should get a free pass or govt. bailout.

that's a great political platform. unfortunately, the options are United gone or PBGC taking over and paying at reduced rate. Either way, you get the same end result. I doubt that will be a topic at the conference though. I also think that you would not find many conservatives who are not in favor of getting the Federal government out of the business of guaranteeing private pensions
