Vote on Priscilla Owen is High Noon Tomorrow

The Sargeant of Arms called all Senators to the floor this afternoon. The vote on Priscilla Owen is at high noon tommorrow. Bloggers will be live blogging through the night and tomorrow. Senator Reid has 49 votes. We need two more.

Chief Blogs and where to go for news first: Swing State Project, and of course, Daily Kos. If you're live blogging, put a note in the comments.

I'll begin around 9pm Mountain Time. Markos of Daily Kos has an excellent summary of where things stood as of Midnight last night.

Blog coverage will include links to Senators' speeches as soon as we can get them, and in some cases, full transcripts. And anything else we learn that we think readers will be interested in.

Via Markos' summary, link above:

Reid has bought a 90-second ad this evening to present the Democratic position to the American people. It will air tonight as follows:

WRC (DC) 7:58 P.M.
WJLA (DC) 7:57 P.M.
WTTG © 7:57 P.M.
CNN 8:00 P.M.
CNNHN 8:00 P.M.
FoxNews 7:50-7:55 P.M.

Part of his message in the ad:

Unfortunately, some Senate Republicans are trying to give President Bush power no president has ever had -- the ability to personally hand out lifetime jobs to judges -- including the Supreme Court, without consensus from the other party. This abuse of power is not what our founders intended. It's wrong for one political party -- be it Republicans today or Democrats tomorrow -- to have total control over who sits on our high courts and rules on our most basic rights.

Hey everyone, enjoy the filibuster shenanigans...but Blagh has a question: If 100 Senators fall down in the chamber and no one hears them, does everyone get an extra-long vacation? As for TL, the chatterers have taken over the threads and Blagh will betake himself to a sofa with a 1/2 lb bean burrito and some Dr. Pepper, and maybe he'll see something interesting on television... Make sure you tell Jeralyn how much we appreciate the extra mile she's going to keep us up-to-date without having to be journalists ourselves... Blaghdaddy, out, good-night and God Bless...

Just heard on Air America and checked the AP wire that Sen. Republican and Democrat centrists have reached a deal. The only specific I could find out was that Owens will move to a confirmation vote with the Democrats not filibustering her. Also apparently the Dem's have agreed to not filibuster unless under "extreme" circumstances. As far as I am concerned the Democrats can rescind my membership.

Ok, just heard some more about the agreement, and I will consider not leaving the party, mainly since the Senate as an institution has survived.

What a bunch of f*#king finks...that's why Blagh took a break from blogging last week... If they don't care, why should anyone else? They've just flushed their credibility down the toilet, and if you'll excuse Blaghdaddy, he'll be back sometime in the future...he's done with politics for a long...long...while after tonight...

OOPS!!!! Looks like the "Gang of 14" has reached a compromise! They're having a LOVEFEST on MSNBC, explaining it, congratulating and lauding each other! It's almost too much to bear. You've got 14 politicians that have never been humorous before in their lives, yuking it up and slapping each other on the back! EEK!!! Looks like the Democrats got the short end of the stick...again. I, for one, am tired of it.

TalkLeft, Jeralyn, thanks for keeping us all up to date and thanks for your legal opinions as well. I'm a prosecutor, so I usually disagree with you, but respect your talent and knowledge of the law. Keep up the god work.
