Priscilla Owen: What About Willie Searcy?

Jeanne D'Arc of Body and Soul has a post on Priscilla Owen that exposes her better than any organization's ads ever could. Only Jeanne's post is not an ad, but a true story. It's the story of Wille Searcy - go read. You won't want to hear the name Priscilla Owen ever again, unless it's to learn that her nomination for a seat on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has been rejected for good.

What a wretched human being. A corrupt judge, from a corrupt state, that is about the best you can say about her. One can only hope for a tumor or a massive coronary, I suppose. As a socal lefty, my pols don't support these righty noms, but I fear for the rest of my compatriots in other, much less evolved, parts of the country.

All things considered, Owen really does seem a waste of human tissue.

The fact that this is not only not surprising, but exemplary of this administration's "business as usual" is deplorable. In addition to the typical silence by the "news media" on this matter, can we count the other ways in which facets of this story betray the "values" agenda of the Republicans?

This thread a good example of the paradoxical nature of PPJ, that legendary blogger dating back to the days of yore.... How do you square carrying the banner of "social liberalism" with snarking against those disgusted by Owen? How take a person like that's part in any way, and then be able to claim even a modicum of moderate sensibility? But these questions belong to the realm of "how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop"? Sigh. Some mysteries were never meant to be unlocked.

Reading the Searcy article, I have to wonder if Ms. Owen is conversant with the concept of 'Social Darwinism'; judging from her ruling in the Searcy case, even if she never heard the words, she's implementing the concept flawlessly.
