I would love to see the looks on all the Republican families when we see 1929, and the homes of both sides start to disappear into the night of total corruption. It's coming people, can you see the day of doom for your non ideals? and that day of poverty for following the evil ideals of an insane government. "Ok, so maybe its not that bad", but come on start to see it for what it is, what we will need so is an FDR, But we just can't find one.

If I don't get picky about grammar I'm 1% Republican. If I do get picky I'm 9% Republican. Since when is good grammar a Republican trait?

That survey loses based on Godwin's law. The fact that you tout it at all is a sad indictment of your attitudes towards people who have philosphical disagreements with you.

    I got the following:
"You are 49% Republican. Congratulations, you're a swing voter. When they say "Soccer Mom", they mean you. Every Democratic ad on the TV set was made just for your viewing enjoyment. Don't you feel special?"
So uh, if I'm dead centre of the spectrum, and I find a lot of folks on this site to be pretty far left...does that mean this milieu is extremist, or is the survey faulty? hmmmm....

This test is complete trash. The LP had a test using actual excerpts from the Green, Republican, Libertarian, and Democrat platforms asking the taker to rate each (take the long version). It has since been removed but thanks to the way back machine you can take it here. I encourage you all to find out just how Democratic you aren’t. I have a feeling most of the left leaning folks that frequent this site are in fact Green. Enjoy!

The highest possible rating is 700. The highest possible rating, given the importance you assigned each issue, is 350. You rated the Democratic stances 190. Democratic Platform You rated the Green stances 140. Green Platform You rated the Libertarian stances 90. Libertarian Platform. You rated the Republican stances 255. Republican Platform.
I just can't win. Green? I must've read something wrong. You all know us Neocons have trouble readen' dem big words.

You're a damn Commie! Where's Tailgunner Joe when we need him?
While I agree with PW that the test cannot be taken seriously, I took it for the humor it was apparently meant to be. In case any of you were wondering, I had a hard time agreeing with any of the answers to some questions - for example, I wouldn't put Hitler in the Republican Party: They move far too inconsistently and slowly for his tastes, I'm sure.

Very bad survey. For 4 of the questions I didn't like any of the choices. 80% republican by the survey, which is very out of line with other political surveys I have taken. pigwiggle had a good survey to take. Here's another good one, it breaks you down by social issues and physical issues. http://www.politicalbrew.com/politest.cgi For the record on pig wiggle's I am The highest possible rating, given the importance you assigned each issue, is 470. You rated the Democratic stances 138. Democratic Platform (29%) You rated the Green stances 139. Green Platform. (29%) You rated the Libertarian stances 10. Libertarian Platform. (2%) You rated the Republican stances 309. Republican Platform. (65%) And in the political brew I am On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Moderate Conservative (72[% conservative]). On Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Centrist (56[% conservatice]), for an average of 64% conservative. These two are in line with each other. -BigTex

As my "highest possible rating" indicates, I believe this test is only marginally more credible than the last. (I actually liked the LP's most recent test better than this one, but still question it's validity as well). This test used stances apparently written in the party manifestos; as the parties are notoriously vague (or recklessly unrealistic) in their sampled writings, it's pretty difficult to be anywhere close to much of that writing either. But here were my results...
The highest possible rating is 700. The highest possible rating, given the importance you assigned each issue, is 310. You rated the Democratic stances 160. Democratic Platform You rated the Green stances 46. Green Platform You rated the Libertarian stances 0. Libertarian Platform. You rated the Republican stances 33. Republican Platform.

I disliked Tex's test questions as well, this time I read Conservative biases in the writing of the opinions. For example, I don't have to support Federal Tax dollars specifically for school lunches and not be in favor of increased State control of education. I believe it was a tad better than PW's linked test. Here was my result:
On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Moderate Liberal (24). On Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Moderate Liberal (31). Your score is on a scale of 0 to 100, with 0 being fully liberal and 100 being fully conservative.
Both the Democrats and Republicans currently have unacceptable priorities, irregardless of their manifestos.

Blaghdaddy is proud to announce that, having just taken the test, he's been denounced as only 25% Republican (easy to lose 50lbs, no worry), and that he "probably thinks getting a b#*#job in the White House is not an impeachable offense... Looks like a solid survey to Blaghdaddy...

67% Republican here. Sounds about right overall. I much prefer this test, which graphs economic Leftness vs. Rightness on one axis, and social Authoritarianism vs. Libertarianism on the other axis. I am supposedly further Left than John Kerry economically, and socially quite Libertarian. Basically, I don't trust mega-corps, and I'd like to try pot without going to prison.
