Celebrity Blogging Begins May 9

Update: Here's a preview of what you can expect.

***********
Arianna Huffington may be changing the face of blogging. Her new celebrity blogging venture, The Huffington Post, written by 250 bold-face names, will launch in cyberspace on May 9. Among the names:

Walter Cronkite, David Mamet, Nora Ephron, Warren Beatty, James Fallows, Vernon E. Jordan Jr., Maggie Gyllenhaal, Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., Diane Keaton, Norman Mailer and Mortimer B. Zuckerman

....Notables will oversee certain sections, with Gary Hart, the former Colorado senator, for example, taking the lead on national security issues.

The venture is designed to compete with the Drudge Report, only it will be interactive. Drudge's former chief techie, Andrew Breitbart, has signed on. There will be some conservative participants, Tony Blankly, for one.

Here's a question: Where are the politically active musicians? No Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Mellencamp?

One more: Will any of them admit to blogging in their pajamas?

I, for one, can't wait to point out any/all gaping falacies in these "celeb's" opinions and/or "facts." I am suprised that any PR flack would allow their "celeb" to blog about anything more controversial than their last movie/book/tv show/song/whatever. Probably won't last long...

LOL Sarcastic..... expect only celebs trying to make news to help their careers. I'm just hoping the'll draw some kool commenters (I wish Bono was blogging). And too bad Frank Zappa won't be around!

I'm sure it will be as successful as Ms. Huffington's bid for California governor.

Excellent. A forum for intelligent people to put forth their views in an intelligent manner. Our Iraq war goes on and few notice. What would John Lennon do? JC

A couple in this group have had individual blogs and may have found the time (and possible lose of IQ) too much. Senator Hart had a blog during his exploring of running for the president. I don't know if the postings are still up but it was certainly a much more serious discussion of foreign policy that was ever found on the Bush Blog. Mainstreammedia pays attention to celebrities -- and if Ms Huffington can put together a good list then more power to her. What's the difference between this and any other guest bloggers. If you don't find it interesting don't read it. The more voices the better.

From what I have read, the celeb bloggers will only write when they feel like it, on anything they wish to write about. From the expanded list of start up celebs I saw on an article elsewhere, there are some genuinely intelligent, interesting, worthy folks who are also probably quite content with their careers just as they stand - not needing blogging to make or save their careers. I'll definitely give it a look...

This is good because our government is doing its best to kill the web. Do you know what Bush is doing about the web and blogging? and what he wants to do to you?

Yet another misbegotten venue for the nasty bigotry and bile of Tony B-B-Blankly, otherwise known as Rush Limbaugh's left nard. This is clearly an older demographic they are after, and it is hard to tell if Chronkite, for instance, has decided to pet the Bush pooch or not--maybe if they offer some more cash. But that's your answer to why the rock musicians aren't invited. This is the supposed answer to allowing 'nobodies' to sway the public from the false analysis and propagandistic lies of the corporate media (the true threat of the blogwheel): Hire up a crowd of somebody's a long time ago, a group who are closer to being nobodies than they probably know, and let them provide a soothing atmosphere of disorganized and passive poli-thought, for the self-contentment of people like them who sleep on piles of cash to muffle the screams of the innocent. Rather than a lot of words, a few choice words from these elders would be welcome. For instance, when does Walter Chronkite think we can have our democracy back?

So sarcastic Unnamed one... Why is a celebrities opnion or presentation of facts anymore prone to being wrong than your own?
