Friday Construction Blogging

Construction at the new bank site looked pretty ugly today, but since I've had some requests, here's week two of what will be a new bank outside my window.

Week One, and the reasons for these Friday photos, aside from the fact that I don't have a cat, is here.

I bet its pretty cool to operate that crane... My cousin makes $100K+/yr operating those huge cranes at a port on the East Coast... Not bad for someone w/out a college education.

I thought so, we are neighbors, by about five blocks. You have that nice specialty food and wine shop across the street.

Che I'm not sure, but he makes good money anyways. He started just out of HS, worked for all he was worth on the dock doing odd jobs. Some supervisor took notice, thought he was hardworking and responsible (he is, of course) and trained him on the large cargo cranes. A couple years later, he's in his early 20's, making bank. He played his hand well, a real rags to riches story. I like hanging out with him too - he's a decent guy who'd give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

The vehicle in the picture is not a crane, it pumps concrete. The vehicle in the foreground is probably drilling holes for concrete pilings. Looks like a good chance that this will be a slab construction with little basement work involved, too bad, the shorings for basements are always interesting to watch. Eventually they will probably use the concrete pumper for a continuous pour and if you're there that day you might get a good series of pictures.

And a crime scene, no less. How appropriate for this blog.
