Randall Terry's Unconventional Family

Randall Terry, anti-abortion activist and now Schindler family spokesman, has an unusual family background. CNN's Anderson Cooper reported tonight: (Transcript available on Lexis.com)

BAKHTIAR: It's been a long road for Randall Terry, who was once imprisoned for sending former President Bill Clinton an aborted fetus....His clinic crusade slowed after he was forced to settle a lawsuit with Planned Parenthood. He moved to Florida and campaigned against infidelity and birth control, gays and unwed mothers.

But a year ago, his expended agenda came under fire from his own devout Christian family, the children who once featured in TV ads.

...His son Jamiel came out as gay in a magazine article.

JAMIEL TERRY, RANDALL TERRY'S SON: In my family, it was you start having sex outside of marriage you get AIDS, you're a whore, your a slut, those are exact words. Yesterday he said to me I'm going to be at your funeral, you're going to die at 42.

BAKHTIAR: His teenage daughter Tila, said her father no longer welcomes her in his home.

TILA TERRY, RANDALL TERRY'S DAUGHTER: I sad sex outside marriage, I got pregnant and I miscarried after about three or four months. I hadn't been speaking with my dad. We haven't been as close as you know we were since I left his house.

BAKHTIAR: His eldest, Ebony, also had two children out of wedlock and became a Muslim.

EBONY WHETSTONE, RANDALL TERRY'S DAUGHTER: It's a whole make of our family is not traditional, by far. So it's not going to be, you know, picture-perfect.

BAKHTIAR: And Randall Terry himself was censored by his church after he had an affair with an assistant. The family split.

The Schindler family wants to save their daughter. But did they have to pick this charletan who won't even speak to his own children to act as their spokesman?

Crooks and Liars has the video and more on Terry . So does Media Matters .

He also got tired of his old wife, so he divorced her in favor of a nice, fresh 22-year old. Family values indeed. Anyway, it's not surprising they picked him given that over two million dollars in legal aid for the Schindlers has come from Operation Rescue and affiliated anti-abortion groups.

This reminder of Randall "I Hate My Gay Son" Terry's rank hypocrisy and brutal treatment of his own children should have appeared the moment his name surfaced in the case. And every time his name gets mentioned.

This is what happens when people get way into the other guys sex life, he hates his son, he hates his Daughter and he hates the world, how many years did he get? But this is normal for most if not all families in this nut house we call a country. but what is his real aganda in life? to help bush in his fight against the USA? This guy needs to be on drugs, and if he keeps it up he will be back in prison, and with AIDS. "GOD" what an ass he is. aborted fetus, was it one of his? thank god he hasn't shot-up any schools. and if i may add, don't send dead things to bill clinton. "Help"

In other words, now that he's ruined his own family he wants everyone else to suffer as he has.

That's the guy I want in my corner when I am having a moral crisis, I mean who better can relate to blatant hypocrisy? Great advocate, tells me a lot about the parents. Funny how they had a falling out shortly after the settlement and Michael refused to give them any money. The parents are hoping for a book deal, donations etc, they are looking to reap financial gain from their daughters condition. Disgusting.

I don't know about Enron, but it sounds right up MCI/Worldcom's alley.

Funny how the parents and Michael had a falling out immediately after the settlement when he REFUSED to give them any of the money. The monies used on her care in the trust has never been disputed so it tells me quite clearly that the parents were and are looking for a payday from their daughters demise. Her parents are sick.

Way back in July 1992, in the print version of Lotus, I had this about Terry: Randall Terry, Executive Director of Operation Rescue, has been reported to be carrying around an aborted fetus in a jar of liquid, intending to push it at "pro-abortion" politicians. If Terry actually believes, as he claims, that a fetus is a child, why hasn't he given this particular child a decent burial? Why is he carrying a dead baby around in a jar? If, on the other hand, he sees no need for such a burial, how can he claim it’s a child? I'll leave it to Terry's conscience to decide whether he's a creepy ghoul or a foul hypocrite - but by his actions he clearly must be one or the other. Apparently, some things - and some people - never do change.

I find it appalling that anyone who demonstrates such hypocrisy, intolerance and hate could be a self proclaimed pro-life Christian. This is a frightening example of self- riteousness, and it seems to offer people like Terry permission to hurt and discriminate against others in the name of "Christianity". Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not blasphemy?
