Instead of an ID card, shouldn't we just tattoo our "Real ID" on our forearm?

There are definitely some stupid aspects to this bill, but the requirement that states certify a person is either a citizen or a legal immigrant before provinding a driver's license is not one of them. This is plain common sense. There is no sound argument for why we should be giving illegals driver's licenses. And yes, I understand that this is a new burden on the states, and yes, I think they should work it out in committee to deal with that burden, but that doesn't mean the underlying issue should be scrapped as well. Some of the other stuff int his bill, such as the requirement of written proof regarding fear of retribution, is another matter altogether.

...No sound reason we should be giving illegals drivers licenses? How about because they tend to drive? If they don't have licences, they can't get insurance. We want people driving cars to be insured, don't we? Face it, they're here. Not letting them have drivers' licenses is just another way or making their lives miserable (and yours, if you collide with one of them). The logic that undocumented workers resident here should not be able to drive is akin to the notion that teenagers shouldn't have sex. Get real.

Sin, Undocumented workers shouldn't be here at all. Giving them driver's licenses so that they will not be breaking a second set of laws is simply acquiescing to their original illegality. We need to make it easier for honest people to come here legally, not make it easier for them once they come here illegally. On top of which, you do not need to have a license to get insurance. You can do that over the phone or via the internet with no proof of a license at all. Nor do you need a vehicle registration card to get insurance (although you do need proof of insurance to register your vehicle).

Yes I told you it would be passed and now have fun with it. soon you will need passports to go from state to state and this is called control of your movements, it is a form/plan that is made up and called nation security just to keep an eye on you as a person. oh yes your totally insane and it is a crusade against you! hitler(let me have your rights so you feel good about your protection) by the way the camps only want to help you understand why you must get in line, and enslavement is at that end of the line. call your government and yell about this outrage against you!

Over 650 suspected terrorists arrested trying to come in from Mexico in 2004 Should those possible terrorists we didn't catch get their own driver's licenses? Should we provide an incentive for millions more illegal aliens to come here? And, what about this: Mexico City — Members of the Assembly of California have asked the Mexican Senate (sic) to beseech Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to sign the bill so that almost 2 million undocumented Mexicans can obtain driver’s licenses that would serve as identification... ...Marco Antonio Firebaugh, said that the governor “is the one who has the ability to make it law, to give this right to Mexicans, whether they have settled in California or not... We want the Mexican people to know that the measure is on his desk... However it is now September and he has not responded whatsoever, although we will insist on approval of the bill, basically so that illegal migrants can have access to education and health services in the U.S..." And, what about this: ...Because tonight we are organizing across this country in a single mission, in a plan. We're going to organize like we've never organized before... we are politicizing every single one of those new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country. And what we are saying is by November we will have one million additional Latino voters in this country, and we are going to march... And our vote is going to be important. But I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, 'I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to PAY THEM BACK!'... That's a quote from L.A. County Supervisor Gloria Molina. If she were white or even black she'd be denounced as a racial demagogue. As it is, she's allowed to use things like ID cards for illegal aliens to build up her base.

"If she were white or even black she'd be denounced as a racial demagogue." Instead, she's subjected to innuendo that *implies* she's a racial demagogue. That IS unfair, and Lonewacko is correct that we shouldn't ALLOW this.

Dear reader: "Peter James Bond" appears to be the new alias of someone who would follow me around on another blog. I might be wrong about that, but the hallmarks are there: following me around and a general inability to read what I wrote. I might be wrong, but if it walks like a duck... As for my post, Gloria Molina is a racial demagogue, as her statements make quite clear. Further, I'll say that if she were an agent of the Mexican government there would be little difference in what she does. The problem is that the news media doesn't cover People of Color who do questionable things. Anyone who's able to read will have realized that was what I was saying. I hate to be like other bloggers, but I may end up banning someone very soon.
