Stupid Criminal of the Week

by TChris

A New York state senator, Kevin Parker, "flew into a rage after a fender bender in Brooklyn yesterday, tossing a citation into a traffic agent's face and then slugging him, police said." A "source close to the senator" claimed a "renegade" traffic agent was trying to cover his own assaultive behavior, but that isn't the way a witness saw it.

Before flinging punches, Parker tried to throw his weight around, a witness said. "Don't you know who I am?" he asked the agent, according to Luis Perez, 20, who works at a nearby bodega. Perez ... said the traffic enforcement agent struck back after absorbing a push, verbal abuse and several punches. "He's lucky it wasn't a regular cop," Perez said of the hot-tempered senator. "He would have gotten shot."

Maybe this senator (and others) will think twice before passing more stupid laws that cause the unnecessary involvement of law enforcement in our lives.

Excellent point kdog. Ticket writers in my town always have to swallow a bunch of sh*t also, glad to see that there was a witness to corroborate Mr. Big Shots' story. Yes, I know who you are, you are the guy getting the ticket and being charged with assault.

“Do you know who I am?” Wow, so cliché. I guess it would be asking to much for a senator to be unique or creative, even in his bad behavior.

LoL Maybe he was just trying to do his part by not spending "One Damn Dime" yesterday!

As I get older, I am learning to re-direct my rage away from police officers (who I have always despised) and towards the knuckleheads in my State Legislature, and the US Senate. They pass the laws we don't need, and the cops take the abuse from the public. I still got no love for the police, but it's really not their fault sometimes.

No, no - now wait, there's a perfectly good explanation. It was: "This was a renegade traffic enforcement agent trying to cover his own a-- and his own assaultive behavior," the source said." This is what I really must - must - point out "State records show that before yesterday's crash, the senator had gotten at least three speeding tickets, had his license suspended briefly and had been in at least two other accidents. Asked last year by the Daily News about his driving record, Parker said, "I always try to obey the laws of the State of New York, period." Of course you do - that's why you had to slug the ticket agent. He wasn't.

Just for the record, he's a Democrat and the Republicans control the state senate. He actually has no role whatsoever in passing laws at all.

Well, he's certainly zealous in defense of his rights. Wonder if he's as fired up for his constituents' rights? [Of course, there's that little voice that keeps telling me that what Sen. Parker really needs is AA.]

JBL: "Just for the record, he's a Democrat and the Republicans control the state senate. He actually has no role whatsoever in passing laws at all." JBL, if that is how you understand our democracy to work, what is going on in DC with the Democrats, who do no control the Senate or the House, having anything to say about what legislation is passed? Are they in fact not at all responsible when they vote in favor of a bill, just because they do not enjoy a majority in the body? Your understanding of our democratic system and the concept of responsibility is limited to say the least.
