Tsunami Celebrity Aid Benefit Tonight on NBC

If you're by a television tonight, (or the internet, you can watch here ) the big celebrity fundraiser for Tsunami victims will air on NBC, MSNBC and other affiliated stations at 8 pm. Funds raised will go to the Red Cross. You can download the live performances afterwards at Sony Connect, where proceeds also go to the Red Cross.

This two-hour, music and celebrity driven broadcast will air live to the East Coast, tape delayed on the West, on NBC, USA, Bravo, Trio, SCI FI, PAX, Telemundo, MSNBC and CNBC with phone lines remaining open throughout the evening. In addition to the musical performances, there are scheduled appearances by Halle Berry, Kevin Spacey, Usher, George Clooney, Uma Thurman, Matt Damon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Bruce Willis, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Tim Robbins, Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes, Jay Leno, Drew Barrymore and a special message from Former Presidents George Bush & Bill Clinton.

Update: There are no commercials. No clapping (no studio audience.)No chirons with the name of the performers, so if you don't know the face or the music, you will be left guessing. Jay Leno is hosting.

Performers are on both coasts. Bill O'Reilly just emcee'd a bit. I guess he's over his spat with the Hollywood crowd from the 9/11 concerts that he was so angry about. If you missed the beginning, try one of the other networks. MSNBC is running an hour ahead of NBC, at least in Colorado. There's information about the Tsunami disaster as well as music. Photos too. The phone banks are manned by some of Hollywood's biggest celebrities who are very easy on the eyes. It's worth watching. And donating.

The head of the Red Cross said $.94 of every dollar goes directly to the victims. The other $.06 goes to get people there to give it out, transport it, etc.

Bloggers are helping out too offering cash for comments. Nice.
