Friday Humor - the 23rd Sigh

Here's the 23rd Sigh - Oy to the World

Bush is my shepherd;
I dwell in want
He maketh logs to be cut down in national forests.
He leadeth trucks into the still wilderness.
He restoreth my fears.
He leadeth me in the paths of international disgrace for his ego's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of pollution and war, I will find no exit for thou art in office.,

Thy tax cuts for the rich and thy media control, they discomfort me.
Thou preparest an agenda of deception in the presence of thy religion.
Thou anointest my head with foreign oil.
My health insurance runneth out.
Surely megalomania and false patriotism shall follow me all the days of thy term,
And my jobless child shall dwell in my basement forever."

[Author unknown, hat tip to Deb of Chicago.]

The law doth punish man or woman That steals the goose from off the common, But lets the greater felon loose That steals the common from the goose. Anon.

TL, puh-leez! I'm CREATING here! Don't crowd me. It isn't cute...it's terrible. And that's the point. Please put your opinion in it's own post like everyone else.

I couldn't even try to compete with you all, but kudos on the best postings I've read all day. P.S. I wish the right-wingers would write all of their comments in the form of song lyrics. Cat Stevens and Frank Zappa come to mind initially. Personally I'd like to see some Led Zepplin and Iron Butterfly ('In the garden of Eden, baby')perhas starting off a creationism comment.

Condoleezza took thje facts And sat on them for forty weeks. When she saw what she had done, She blamed it all on forty-TWO... And the FBI and CIA of course.

Whoa, that's pretty bad, Pip. No rhyme or rhythm...kind of like haiku that lived near the nuclear power plant.

Are the terrorists our worst enemy? We're destroying ourselves instead Who cares about our civil rights As long as I get paid The blind Me-Generation Doesn't care if life's a lie so easily used, so proud to enforce The stars and stripes of corruption Let's bring it all down! Tell me who's the real patriots The Archie Bunker slobs waving flags Or the people with the guts to work For some real change Rednecks and bombs don't make us strong We loot the world, yet we can't even feed ourselves Our real test of strength is caring Not the toys of war we sell the world Just carry on, thankful to be farmed like worms Old glory for a blanket As you suck on your thumbs Real freedom scares you Cuz it means responsibility So you chicken out and threaten me Saying, "Love it or leave it" I'll get beat up if I criticize it You say you'll fight to the death To save your worthless flag If you want a banana republic that bad Why don't you go move to one

ernesto writes "If you want a banana republic that bad Why don't you go move to one" Well, I was going to Canada, but it is already filled up with Lefties and Movie Stars. Housman said it best. "Clay lies still, but blood's a rover; Breath's a ware that will not keep. Up, lad: when the journey's over There'll be time enough to sleep."

Aww, c'mon don't you guys remember the Dead Kennedys? They were a seminal political punk rock group in the '80s and the perfect antidote to Peggy Noonan's "Morning in America" speeches. Too bad their lyrics keep being brought back into style by current U.S. malfeasance at home and abroad. Anyway, I invite you to listen to such classics as "Kill the Poor", "When Ya Get Drafted", "Jock-o-Rama", and my personal favorite, "MTV Get off the Air".

My favorite DK song is "man with the dogs". I am no-one but I'm well known for I am the man with the dogs. Kepone Factory, also very good.

Ernesto - Sorry, my favorites run to songs like: If I had nickle, I tell ya what I'd do, I'd spend it all on candy, And give it all to you. For that's how much I love you. For that's how much I love you. I'll leave "Kill The Poor" to the Left

Excellent lyrics, Jim. Ernie, I'll bet you would also not enjoy Tom Lehrer's "Folk Song Army": Oh, we are the folk song army Guitars are the weapons we bring To the fight against poverty, war, and injustice. Ready! Aim! SING!

Ace - That's funny, but also sad.... BTW - My above lyrics, I think, are from Hank Williams, but not sure. Then there was.... "Oh lord it's hard to be humble.. When your perfect in every way." The above one for you, Ernesto.

And still y'all good ole boys skip over that classic paen to redneck obstinance... Leather boots are still in style for manly footwear; Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen. Football's still the roughest thing on campus, And the kids here still respect the college dean. Yeehaww!

Interesting you call it sad, Jim. I took it as a humorous way of point out that a lot of song and dance counts for nothing when action is called for. Ernie, re: Okie, see "Imagine" post above.

Maybe I'm a bit older (more cultured?) than you, Ernie. I know "of" the DK. But I never sought out their sound.
