Stupid Criminal of the Week

by TChris

The fries at Burger King surely aren't worthy of a fuss like this.

Township police Sgt. Rod Fairman said [Gregg] Luttman made an obscene gesture to the drive-thru clerk [after being told that the restaurant was out of fries], then entered the building with another man. Luttman repeatedly cursed at the restaurant staff then walked back to his vehicle; when he noticed restaurant workers taking down his license number, Luttman revved his pickup in reverse, nearly hitting one of the employees, Fairman said.

If they would have had fries, they would have got his order wrong anyway. Didn't Michael Douglas do the same thing in some movie a few years back?

Falling Down, great flick. My favorite line..."What kind of vigilante are you?" He should have went to White Castle.

The amazing thing is that they found that many employees who cared enough to argue and get into a conflict. Good lord, next they'll be getting us the food fast again! -C

Not the workers fault they were low on fries, it is the atkins diet, they have to order less because of the diet craze. Perhaps an appropriate sentence would be atkins diet with a side or two of anger mgmt.

I was in line at Wendys once and they ran out of fries. They gave chicken nuggets instead. Maybe they should have just offered this guy some chicken instead?

In a couple of weeks the debate will be: The recent spate of fry-rage incidents - copycat crimes or selective indignation in the media?

No Bojangles... No Taco Bueno... No Whataburger... No Buona Beef... No Corky's BBQ... No Vienna Beef dog stands... Only 1 distant Krystal... No Middle Eastern Delis... ...in the Tampa Bay area. Good for my health and fitness, bad for my soul. We do have a Fatburger now though...

Tampa Student: there's a Sonic on Gandy, if you really need it, but Pitas on Dale Mabry is healthier.

IMHO, the hands-down best fries can be found at - of all places - Long John Silver's. Nice and crispy. They really seem to fry the buggers, instead of dump them in frozen and half-assedly heat them 'til they're limp. As to the alleged unprofessional behavior of the cop, perhaps he should have saved it for, you know, the criminals. Not his paymasters (who foot the bill for his salary with their payroll taxes). Sounds like another candidate for the 'bow and arrow squad' as Jimmy Breslin once put it.

Lots of places to get good seafood in the area. Best no frills @ Crabby Bills either CC Causeway or Indian Rocks. Will have to look for the smoked fish place. Best soul food in Tampa can be found at Lee Roy Selmon's by the stadium. If anyone knows where I might find both (1) a good Lebanese deli and (2) the best Samosas in Tampa, let me know and I'll try not to label you a heartless Neoconservative for at least one full day.

One day dispensation is too nice to pass up. Try Chez Marco in New Port Richey or Dominicks on Ehrlich Rd in Tampa for the delis; a good ME restaurant is Zaeem Palace on Westshore in s. Tampa near El Prado Blvd.

Sorry guys, the old style White Castle fries were the best (real thin and crispy), I cried the day they switched to crinkle cut.

I've never gotten angry that a fast food joint ran out of something...but when you're halfway home and realize they screwed up your order (again!), I can understand the urge to literally "drive thru" the joint.

My turn to apologize. I hadn't read the full article, and made an unwarranted assumption thinking the police had instigated this fracas.
