President Bush has named a delegation to tour Asia and assess the Tsunami stricken areas. Colin Powell and Jeb Bush will lead the delegation. They will be leaving on Sunday.

White House deputy press secretary Trent Duffy in Crawford, Texas said:

....including the president's brother, who has experience with extensive hurricane damage in Florida, "signifies the high level of importance that the president puts on this delegation."

I'd wager that Bush could have found someone to send in Jeb's place that actually had a lot of experience in the culture of the part of the world stuck by this disaster--perhaps this is a way for Jeb to start compiling the foreign policy experience that his brother lacked when he ran for President. Sailor--your post putting Neil's name forward, was the best laugh I've had this year! You can say one thing about the anti-administration movement, we can laugh even while we're crying! Happy 2005!

Wait... So, when Republicans address problems from where they are, that's bad. On the other hand, when Republicans relocate themselves to where they can work on problems, that's also bad. Maybe they are supposed to just spin in circles? Just checking. (Oh, and it's ok for the Secratary General to spend three days on a ski vacation before addressing the crisis. He doesn't have an "R" next to his name on a ballot.) Oh, and for extra credit: When Presidents have the power to just throw massive amounts of $$$ at anything they think needs it, that's bad. They should be reigned in by Congress not to exceed their authority! But on the other hand, when Presidents fail to instantly throw massive anounts of $$$ at a problem, that's bad... because they are stingy b*stards. Right? Just checking. SMS
