Blogger Back From Thailand

Nathan Newman spent some of his Christmas vacation in Phuket, leaving for Bangkok before the Tsunami hit. He has some pictures of Phuket.

I spent a week in Phuket here in the late 1980's. It was beautiful. The Meridian chain, which now owns the resort, reports that none of its guests were seriously injured or killed and it did not sustain any structural damage. It remains operational.

From the official US Navy website for DG. www.dg.navy.mil The USN says the avg height above sealevel is 4' and that the wave surged to a 6' height but operations were not affected. Really? Gonna be a lot of drowned detainees if they were housed in the same conditions as Gitmo. Sure hope the nuclear weapons bunker entrances were higher than 6'. We'll never know. We'll just trust the Navy to be truthful. LOL.

The UN, the organization that truly stole the oil and cash from Iraq. How ironic it is to have the UN undersecretary lecture the US on ethics. He probably just got his latest installment of cash from the UN oil for food program. By the way, the US has given 40% of the world natural disaster relief aid over the past years. Wonder how much the world donated to the US after all the hurricans this summer???
