Trump Double- Downs on Election Rejection: Promotes Stephen Miller

Donald Trump is either tone-deaf or truly hates America. He has promoted Stephen Miller to be his Chief of Staff , as the current holder of that position, Susie Wiles, is sent to the sidelines.

Trump knows the election results are a reflection of his unpopularity with voters and their rejection of his policies. So why is he doubling-down with Miller, who is the architect of Trump's most objectionable policies?

Miller, of course, is ecstatic, because now he gets to spend even more time with his cabal of right wing lawyers drafting executive orders to enact policies the rest of us find abhorrent. Get ready for the deluge.[More...]

I think my favorite article on Miller is the one his uncle, retired neuropsychologist David Glosser, wrote in 2018 in Politico. I wrote up a summary at the time here.

Trump and Miller will have two more years to wreak mayhem at the executive level. Some of their damage can be undone by the next President who can repeal his Executive Orders. One thing that won't be undone: Their appointment of life-time federal judges and most likely, at least one more Supreme Court Justice.

And bring slong some UFC fighters to be "assistants." You know, to handle all those lunatic left wing White House reporters.

This is the actions of a dementia addled old man wondering around in his bathrobe.

Hakeem Jeffries has said that impeaching this obviously unfit old man is not a priority. This is one more reason Jeffries is not fit to be Speaker. He is cut from the "go along to get along" cloth as Chuck Schumer. That attitude leaves this country in great peril. I for one, do not want old school Democrats leading the party at a time when we need ferocity.

Agree on impeachment. It is a waste of time. Trump gets to play the victim. Better option is to expose all the corruption and make the GOP own it.

Schumer is terrible at messaging. He however got it right with candidate quality. Jeffries just has to round up votes

to be giving the American people the finger.  No lame duck as he sees himself---hostility, anger and contempt to be served up for an electorate that did not recognize his wonderfulness.  Democrats will have a heavy lift-the simultaneous and interconnected good governance that addresses the glaringly apparent damage inflicted on the country and aggressively holding Trump and his minions to account for their corruption and thievery.

right-wing SCOTUS justice is now "likely." It appears that neither Alito nor Thomas is willing to resign/retire immediately, so as to create a vacancy during the Lame Duck, and after that I don't see the newly elected Senate approving any nominee that Tr*mp would put forward in the next two years, in the event a vacancy should arise during that time.
