ABC news producer Asa Enlocker was arrested at the Brown Palace today.

Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown's Palace Hotel.

...Eslocker and his ABC News colleagues are spending the week investigating the role of corporate lobbyists and wealthy donors at the convention for a series of Money Trail reports on ABC World News with Charles Gibson.

This letter was written by a friend of mine, whose letters I have published several times over the years on TalkLeft. When I first met him, he was a criminal defense lawyer with a very high profile Washington, DC law firm. (I served as local counsel for one of his clients.)

He then became a high ranking official in the Clinton Justice Department. We were on opposing sides then but remained in touch. He's been back in private practice in D.C. for several years since then. During four of those years, we both served on a prominent national legal board that met every three months in various cities. While he's never going to agree with all of my positions on crime issues, I still have tremendous respect for him. He's really one of the good guys -- and a true Democrat.

We've been corresponding throughout this election campaign as he was a strong supporter of Sen. Barack Obama from the beginning. He was unable to convince me that Obama would be a better President or nominee than Hillary. Of course, I agree with him that Obama would be a better President than John McCain.

His letter to Hillary Clinton supporters, sent to me for TalkLeft this morning, is below:

On Fox News just now, Howard Wolfson unleashed a broad attack on MSNBC and its top on-air personalities, slamming the network's coverage of Bill and Hillary, hitting back at Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann for using his work for Fox to question his Democratic credentials, and blasting MSNBC as having been "taken over" by "antics." . . . "I'm not gonna take any lectures on how to be a good Democrat from two people who spent the last two years relentlessly attacking Bill and Hillary Clinton everyday," Wolfson said on the air moments ago, when asked by the Fox anchor to respond to some criticism of Wolfson on MSNBC yesterday.

Wolfson's decision to unload on MSNBC was triggered by some particularly barbed comments about Wolfson from Olbermann and Matthews yesterday. Matthews slammed Wolfson as Fox's "little toy soldier," while Olbermann joked that Wolfson is Fox's "Tokyo Rose."

Here's what's weird to me - NBC pretends to have a news organization. Did Tweety and Olbermann just stop pretending yesterday? As a Democrat, I have always opposed Dems appearing on Fox. So I wish Wolfson would not appear on Fox. But Olbermann and Matthews are pretending to be journalists, not Democratic bloggers, aren't they? What are they doing commenting on how good a Democrat Howard Wolfson is?

The crowd was fired up. But the excitement faded quickly. Clinton didn't seem angry or betrayed or entitled or any of the things that critics have attributed to her—she seemed merely unenthused, and so did the audience, his crowd and hers.

Heh. I take it Josh is mad that no one gave a crap about his big "memos" scoop. Also, he has to be worried. His only schtick is Clinton Hate and, after tonight, at least for the rest of this campaign, he'll have nothing to say. He's sort of a junior Carl Bernstein now.

After losing 18 years of his life, Robert McClendon walked free yesterday. McClendon had been convicted of raping a 10 year old girl. A new DNA analysis of semen stains in the victim's underwear did not match McClendon's DNA profile.

Three journalists who traveled to the Twin Cities to document any police misconduct that might be directed at Republican National Convention protesters may have difficulty doing their jobs. The police have already confiscated their video cameras, cell phones, and a laptop computer.

The group said police detained them for about an hour after asking whether they knew about a rash of car burglaries in the area. The officers searched them without their consent and confiscated their belongings, the group said.

The police say the journalists were trespassing. Even if that's true, how did that offense justify a decision to confiscate the journalists' cameras? Were the officers actually motivated by a desire to prevent the journalists from documenting police misconduct?

It is most revealing that the pundits who, apparently looking for things to criticize about Hillary Clinton, complain that Hillary's speech was not about Obama the person, it was about why Democrats should support the Democratic nominee. This is classic personality driven punditry. They do not believe the issues matter. To them it is not about the American People and their lives and issues, it is about their silly Freak Show. Anglachel captures why Hillary Clinton's speech was so powerful and why it was the best possible endorsement that could be delivered for Barack Obama:

It was, first and foremost, a speech about politics. It had plenty of "human interest" and even humor in it. We most certainly got a look into the mind and heart of this woman. But what it was, from the first line to the last, was a full-force evocation of what it means to be a Democrat. In a season where we have been bombarded by bipartisan, everybody let's hug, don't say anything bad about the Republicans, don't be partisan be Obamacan, Unity Ponies for everyone balderdash, Hillary took the party by the scruff of its dithering neck and made it look at the reason we are a party in the first place.

It was a Politics of Contrast/Fighting Dem speech, and the type of speech Barack Obama and every Democrat should be giving. It was about why folks should vote for Democrats and why they should not vote for Republicans. The reasons are bigger than Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Alaskan Republicans demonstrated their reverence for the presumption of innocence by voting overwhelmingly for the indicted Ted Stevens in the Republican primary. Or maybe it's this:

Mr. Stevens, who has been in office for 40 years ... is revered for bringing home billions of dollars in federal spending ....

Stevens' trial is scheduled for late September. If he's convicted, Alaskan Republicans will have the opportunity to vote for a candidate who will serve his senatorial term in a prison cell.
