More Hacking Indictments Coming?

Barrett Brown says it looks like he will be indicted. Yesterday he posted this statement about the FBI searches of his apartment and his mother's house. At least he's lawyered up. (Added: During a video chat today he said the feds wanted him to do 9 years.)

In Sabu news, the transcript of LulzSec informant Hector Xavier Monsegur's guilty plea hearing has been unsealed. From news sources quoting it, Assistant U.S. Attorney James Pastore told the judge: [More...]

“Since literally the day he was arrested, the defendant has been cooperating with the government proactively,” Pastore told Preska at the hearing, a transcript made available today shows. “The defendant has literally worked around the clock with federal agents. He has been staying up sometimes all night engaging in conversations with co-conspirators that are helping the government to build cases against those co-conspirators.”

Is there a list of arrests that can definitively be linked to Sabu after he started cooperating in June, 2011 and before the arrests this week? I wonder how many of those people followed his lead and also cooperated. And how many cases he'll get credit for when he's ultimately sentenced.

are there different rules for informants or cooperating witnesses like Sabu versus actual law enforcement officers when it comes to entrapment?

Can you be entrapped by an informant under any circumstances?

If the informant, as here, is acting under direction and control of the agents. However, being tricked or "trapped" is not the same as being "entrapped." A person who was predisposed to engage in that criminal conduct without inducement has not been "entrapped" under the law.
