Pelosi Names House Dems for Budget Deficit Committee

The gang of 12 henchman for the Deficit Budget Committee is now in place. Nancy Pelosi named the Democratic House appointees today. They are:

Democratic Reps. Chris Van Hollen (Md.), Xavier Becerra (Calif.) and James Clyburn (S.C.).

On the Republican House side:

House Speaker John Boehner tapped House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, to serve as co-chair of the committee. He also appointed House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., to the committee.

Senate picks:

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell appointed Sens. Jon Kyl (Ariz.) Pat Toomey (Pa.) and Rob Portman (Ohio). Reid named Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.) to co-chair the committee, and also appointed Sens. Max Baucus, (Mont.) and John Kerry (Mass.) to serve on it.

Stocks are doing better today due to new reports on unemployment numbers -- "the number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time fell last week to 395,000, down 7,000 from the prior week."

Clyburn is a proponent of means-testing for Social Security. We'll be lucky if even one member of Catfood II refuses to go for cuts to SS, Medicare and Medicaid.

and the word isn't even in my personal vocabulary.  There is nothing that I believe...only what I think, based on the evidence I have at the time.  No leaps of faith of any kind for me.

Your focus is admirable, & so much more. Without words to say, I can only mumble a sincere prayer of hope for you. (And, in that spirit, we all look forward to lots, lots more words from you here.)

'chemo brain' I hear it's called!

    Oh, well.

I try to limit my comments to times when focus takes up residence, when time allows and on subjects that matter to me most.

I do read you all regularly at TL but don't always join in or comment.  No need.  You all cover the waterfront very well on most subjects.
