When I was in college my roommate had a jones for Carl Budding. I called it Carl Buttock because it was so yucko-stinko in so much as it's barely even meat...it's some sort of meat PRODUCT, essence of meat.

Then one day I had very little cash (College, of course, does that to all of us) and  was starvin'like'marvin so I reluctantly reached out for the Carl Budding. I slapped a few slimy CB slices on whole wheat bread, added sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, a slice of cheddar, a lil'mayo and a healthy squirt of Italian dressing. Basically everything left in the refrigerator by my prosperous roomie.

HOLY MOLY was that good!
I testify!

Now that I have more than a nickel in my pocket I shudder when seeing that Carl Budding in the grocery store, yet I hold on to the golden memory of that ONE SANDWICH.

Case in point: Nora Ephron's absolutely heinous, Huff post, Hillary the Admonisher, alleging:

Clinton narcissism...and the whole fish stinks from the head down...(emphasis added).

Luckily, Ephron's venom was, coincidentally anti-doted, by Taylor Marsh's magnificent Huff post, Hillary's Show Stopper, where she said the following (I don't think she had Ephron in mind, but the shoe sure fits):

So, let every commentator, writer and blogger who finds a crevice in which to slither forth and spew a doubting word on what Hillary said and meant, or should have done, last night finally be called by their proper name: sorcerers. Spiteful vipers who dare to find a toxic blend amidst an open heart and full throated generosity at a time when our country needed just a leader like Hillary to make a new path where the last footsteps have been taken down a road that has ended in the dirt.

No surprise: Taylor's column is no longer even on the front page, while Ephron's column continues to sit at the very top - ALL DAY!

An aside.  I am beginning to wonder if the Obama campaign was doing their darnedest to manufacture a Macaca Moment for the Clinton campaign.  If you look at the pattern, it's a bunch of mild statements, frequently taken completely out of context, and spread as much as possible.  The RFK statement had to be the most blatant example.

Just trying anything and everything to make it stick.  Effective enough in a primary, but lousy in the GE.  McCain is doing the exact same thing, down to using the media to disseminate their ads for them.  I haven't been impressed with any of the Hillary-based ads.  (Hasty and sloppy, IMO) But the GOP just keeps slamming stuff out there, and watching for the Obama and media reactions.

During the primary, Obama had the advantage of the O-blogs disseminating a lot of "information" for him.  In the GE, it's not going to work so well.  The viral ads and emails aren't going to penetrate into the undecideds and Republicans like they did primary voters.  McCain is going to fight back w/o the handicaps Hillary was burdened with (fellow Democrat, woman, race, the GE, unfriendly media).  Election season fatigue has set in and the activism has faded.

I'd like to think they did it because they felt Hillary was the best choice.

But is there another reason?

It just seems bizarre to me.  I know Mark Warner wants to be President some day.  Yet he declines such a clear opportunity.
