Katrina Casualties - 3 Nursing Home Patients Die

Three nursing home patients in New Orleans died while being evacuated:

Three residents of a New Orleans nursing home fleeing Hurricane Katrina aboard a school bus died during an evacuation to a Baton Rouge church Sunday, authorities said.

The Times Picayune is running a news blog here. The paper will be reporting throughout the storm from a hurricane bunker on the third floor of the building:

1408 - 8/28/05 - What's left of NOLA's staff is closeted for the duration of Hurricane Katrina on the third floor of the Times-Picayune building, in what we call the Hurricane Bunker. We'll be updating throughout the storm with stories shared by residents and well-wishers, and to let you know how things are going in the bunker. At the moment, newspaper staffers and their families are trickling into the building, pulling carts loaded with sleeping bags, and snack food. I'm stationed behind several walls in the photo department, beside the Associated Press crew, which is also taking refuge here. The bank of police scanners is rattling off incessantly.

Here's some shelter info for SE Louisiana.

Wow, that sounds almost as bad as the TV weather people up here announcing a snowstorm is on the way. I'm gonna miss "Nawlins". Had some fun times there. Sounds like I will have to buy scuba gear to visit it next time.
