It's That Time Again
Bump and Update: No more bandwidth donations necessary. We just spoke to our great hosting company, Hosting Matters, and they have made us an incredibly generous offer. Thanks again to all who contributed.

Bump and Update: Thanks to all of you who contributed. We've covered our bandwidth costs for this month and next, and we are well on our way to a new flat-screen monitor. We'll be sending individual thank you e-mails within the next day or two. We also appreciate the many suggestions for conserving bandwidth. We implemented one today--only two days (48 hours) of TalkLeft's most recent posts will show on the main page. We like our hosting company, Hosting Matters, too much too change. We've had four others and HM has proven to be the most reliable. So we pay a little more, but they're worth it.

TalkLeft went down for a few hours today. It was very frustrating. We didn't know if it was a server issue or whether we exceeded our bandwidth. Turns out, it was a server issue. But, in checking, we found that we have already used 40,000 MB of bandwidth this month and our allowance is only 24,000. And there's still a week to go in the month.
TalkLeft had its largest number of readers ever this month, more than doubling its number of unique daily visitors to more than 12,000. That's 12,000 different people a day who have visited the site, a figure that does not include those who stop by more than once a day, to read what's new or check comments--that's an even bigger number.
If any of you are able to chip into our tip jar, we'd really appreciate it. Just click on one of the buttons below. Amazon is anonymous, paypal is not.
We also need a desktop monitor for our laptop at home--from which we do a lot of our blogging. It's a great laptop, bought for us by a very generous TalkLeft reader last year, but it gets awfully hard on our eyes and a flatscreen monitor would be a huge relief. If you'd like to get one for us, we put a few we like a lot on our Amazon Wish List . If it's out of your price range (as it is our's), it'd be great if your tip jar contributions bring it within our reach.
Many thanks.
