Progressive Blogs Preferring Hillary Clinton

TalkLeft, Taylor Marsh, No Quarter, Corrente Wire and Left Coaster are not the only progressive blogs where some of the authors and/or most of the commenters prefer Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama for President. Some blogs have explicitly endorsed her. At others, individual authors express their personal beliefs. Some even strive to provide fair coverage.

Here are some to check out:

And I imagine no one believe me, I really DO believe Obama is the preferable nominee because he is a Media Darling and there is not a dime's worth of difference on the issues between them.I am not a believe in the "experience" factor. I think Obama is a much superior politician. I think his campaign team seems to be better.

My problems are the same as always - I do not like his Unity Schtick and I have serious concerns that progressives will give him a free pass.

I also believe Hillary is a good Democrat and I deplore the incredibly unfair treatment she has received from the Media and the blogs.

    Honest.

A big if, I grant you, I think it will lend credence to my theory that Hillary is better than a media darling, she's a media anti-toxin. :-)

And if she does win, I predict we might get to find out how much of a media darling Obama really is.  I suspect the media will turn on him mightily.  His biggest asset has been that he's a Clinton killer.  Now, having supported him to the point where they've been repeatedly ridiculed on SNL for it, what will they do if he fails (again) to knock the witch out?

Of course, Obama could simply win tomorrow and they'll love him all over again.

by hitchhiker on Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 08:32:55 PM EST
You've named the only reasons to prefer him in the primary.  I made a different choice, because I think the uncertainty factor with him outweighs the positives of being loved by the press & having a good staff.

He's a better campaigner, but if she can win I'm 100% certain she'd be a better head of our government.

That's actually the line I keep waiting to hear from her campaign.  Obama thinks that campaigning is governing.  He uses the 2002 speech as evidence that he would be good at governing . . . it's just not.

before he bacame the nominee in 2000? Or did the press more or less immolate him after he was nominated? Personally, I don't recall what the press was like to Gore during the primaries.

At any rate, Democrats are never big-time, 'media-darlings' for long are they?

As the Stenographic Arm of the GOP, the press has to type accordingly don't they?

I trust Bob Somerby, especially seeing as how he has called every unfair characterization, no matter which candidate it  concerns.

will be that it moved many of us away from the  "A-list" blogosphere.

This is a good thing.  The "A-listers" have gotten big enough that they've outgrown the whole "people-powered" meme that made them popular.  The individual now can't really be heard and have been replaced by the clique and sometimes even the mob.

It's great that we're finding other places to go.

there is not a dime's worth of difference on the issues between them.

I think there is a world of difference between them on how dedicated they are to the issues and how likely they are to work for what they say they stand for.

It's not an experience thing (though that is a big part of it). It's a trust thing.

    Trust for you is different (5.00 / 2) (#26)
by Jeralyn on Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 10:04:59 PM EST
than it is for many others. Trust is subjective. You are basically taking Obama on faith since he has a minimal record of substance and achievement since becoming a Senator.

More important than blind faith in my view is   their respective abilities to implement their similar agendas if elected. That's also where experience comes in.

So I'd say they are substantially the same on issues, Hillary is more likely to get the Democratic agenda implemented and that she has earned my trust through decades of documented national public service.

I don't agree that being a local community organizer  or a state legislator  is sufficient or relevant experience for President.

...mostly because its so fascinating to watch John Cole slowly morph back into the Hillary-hating conservative he was just a few years ago.

Cole was one of the first conservative bloggers to be critical of Iraq, and now his readership is pretty solidly progressive -- and full of Obots.  If/when a Dem takes over the White House, I expect to see Cole revert entirely.

I deleted your comment for two reasons.

First, it was off topic. There is an Open Thread for such comments.

Second, you did not properly format your link, breaking the margin.

The comment was about Hillary's statement about her and McCain having experience and Obama having a speech. I did not care for the statement but given the Olbermann Obama Hour's screeching overreaction, I am not inclined to blog about it.
