Boston Globe Trashes Karl Rove

What an editorial!

Rove's record has been consistent. Over 35 years, he has been a master of dirty tricks, divisiveness, innuendo, manipulation, character assassination, and roiling partisanship.

It's a two-pager that traces Rove's history and brings us up to RoveGate.

Related: Bush Launches Operation "Cindy Sheehan."[hat tip Patriot Daily.]

Once again, Karl Rove has let the dogs out. A vicious campaign to maul Citizen Sheehan is in play. Instead of answering her questions - the right wing media hacks are focusing on her motives, her mental health, her ideology and her family. These are standard and classic Rovian tactics used to smear administration critics. The predictable pundits at FOX have taken the lead by portraying Sheehan as a treasonous ‘crackpot’ who is exploiting the death of her son to gain fame and fortune and advance the extremist political agenda of leftist ‘anti-American’ groups. Hate radio stations across the nations are assailing Cindy’s integrity and questioning her patriotism.

The objective of this smear campaign is to draw fire away from Bush. Instead of focusing on the argument between Sheehan and the president – we now have a contest between Sheehan’s supporters and her detractors. What started out as a search for the truth is being reduced to an ideological spat between the left and the right.

Is it any surprise that, surrounded with slime like rove, bush's approval rating is about what nixon's was during the height of Watergate? BTW - the uncapitalizing was intentional...

The Chimp King stops short of calling Rove his Propaganda Minister, although he may use the title during his next term as president. Rove's connection to Goebbels cannot be just a coincidence. I wonder if anyone told him that the Nazis lost WWII, or does he just know something that we do not.
As John Roberts, the Supreme Court nominee and federal appeals court judge, wrote last month in another context, the fact that ''sometimes dogs do eat homework" is no reason to ignore more-logical explanations.
    from the original:
"Sometimes," Judge Roberts wrote in yesterday's dissent, "a car being driven by an unlicensed driver, with no registration and stolen tags, really does belong to the driver's friend, and sometimes dogs do eat homework, but in neither case is it reasonable to insist on checking out the story before taking other appropriate action."
Rove, Roberts ,Wolfowitz and their ilk, believe that they belong to a special class of people who are not accountable for their actions, because only they know what is good for America. That they are above scrutiny is a view distilled from Leo Strauss.
Strauss's interpretation of Plato's ideal Republic, where an enlightened philosopher caste tells "noble lies" to the masses while whispering esoteric truths to a select few, made the Straussian connections running through neocon policy circles an irresistible topic of media speculation.
We should follow Roberts own advice here. Filibuster his SC nomination and put the rest of 'the special class' behind bars ASAP: As he eloquently said:
..but in neither case is it reasonable to insist on checking out the story before taking other appropriate action."

this is nothing new. what would have been new would have been a catalog of the many ways the MSM itself has been culpable in mr. rove's shenanigans. don't bet the rent money on that coming out in a boston globe, or any other major newspaper, editorial. after all, we wouldn't want to embarrass our fellow rich, nantucket loving, lazy "liberal" journalist friends, whom we might want to get a job working for, by pointing out the calumny perpetrated by them for the past 15 years. no, goodness, that wouldn't do at all. far better to "disappear" their work, and blame it all on that horrible, horrible boy, karl rove.

Paul her son was killed in Iraq for business reasons, but he did die a hero not just a dog in the sand. maybe some day we can say that about Bush? after the coming "American Hiroshim" that bin laden want with the help of many like Karl Rove and his kind who are the real unamerican. Rove's name will live as a trojan horse for total evil with bush as the treason guy.

If you, and george, persist with your operation Cindy Sheehan, you will alienate so many millions of people who can see through your b.s. that you might as well start packing now. It's the beginning of the end for you and george, bud. Remeber Erlichman and his friends?

I can believe the Boston Globe went after Karl Rove because he is a Republican afterall. Actually isn't the Boston Globe the lame step-child of the NYTimes? I can imagine the nasty things that they could editorialize about James Carville if he were a Republican. Or if he was Joe Trippi? These folks are all political mercenaries and attacking them only exposes the biases of the attackers. The biases of the Rove's of this world are well known.... ...But the Quixotic journey of the Left continues to tilt against those Rovian windmills.

Jimcee-Looks like Rove's nasty schoolyard tricks have crossed a line where partisan politics trumps national security issues and he got caught way out of bounds. Sounds like your kinda guy, you are, thankfully, not as bright.

You guys don't get it at all, the next guy to run will be bill richerson from new mexico or mexico?..he is the pick from the rich who need him as el-president, he is loved by the aztlan guys and hated only by some, meaning 30 percent, he talks like jimmy carter and lobbyists love him, he is a big anit-semite which is like by all. and he will tell you anything you want to hear, and we may have a dark future but richerson love you, until he takes power and god help you.
