Say hello to the U.N. Dispatch, by the U.N. Foundation with major assist from Daou Report creator and former John Kerry onlines communication director Peter Daou. There is a dearth of blog coverage on U.N. activities (other than oil for food) so this is a welcome addition to the blogosphere. Peter writes we need more discussion of:

....the wide range of humanitarian work performed by UN bodies, everything from measles initiatives to Tsunami relief to global environmental issues to women's rights. Helping children in need, working for a healthier environment, leading disaster relief efforts around the globe, these are not partisan issues, and I believe that stepping up to defend the UN's works in these areas is the right thing to do.

    Has the UN actually finally started to do something to help the Tsunami victims? Other than lip service?

    The UN is irrelevant already. I doubt it will be reconstituted, either.

    Rush Limbaugh outright lies about the UN, and so does Fox. Why doesn't that upset you? Because you're trolls. A website dedicated to the UN's activities would be educational to those on both sides of US politics, but troll-logic, armed with the lies of their favorite liars, not interested. Since you love liars so much, no wonder you hide behind aliases. No wonder you cower behind lies. But you're covered in blood, and you stink. So it's not much of a disguise.

    Paul in La.... Rush Limbaugh outright lies about the UN, and so does Fox. And those would be??? The UN is a worthless organization... Why are they not doing anything about the genocide in Africa? Why did they not take action against Saddam...(After puting sanctions on him that did not work)...and then the famous oil for food program under the table??? why are their workers raping women... get a clue buddy.

    Paul, This thread was troll-infested from the get go. We've "misplaced" ten times as much money in Iraq as they shriek about at Oil-for-food central. There's so much tin foil here you could start an indoor pot farm.

Limbaugh slurred Annan over a speech he gave, and in doing so told two HUGE whoppers about what Annan said. He said that Annan had failed to rue world terrorism, when IIRC Annan in fact listed twenty countries that were in deep sh*t because of a range of causes including terrorism. Limbaugh also said that Annan only mentioned Israel, which is only one of the twenty countries Annan mentioned, and his comments about Israel were FAR from inflammatory. So Limbaugh tells these outright, slanderous lies, and you chumps buy it. And if you found out that these lies were told to you, you will do nothing about it, because in fact you couldn't care less about the facts. Limbaugh is a huge liar and racist, and he lies about the UN in order to spread hatred of Annan and the UN, which is a crime against our allies, and a violation of our values. Those of us who DIED to found the UN, and those who know why we founded the UN, do not appreciate your hateful attitude about it. But we shall not tolerate your lies and your liars. Rush Limbaugh has soiled the flag. He's a proven liar. Now what are you going to do about the Republicans who just called Jimmy Carter a traitor? Ha-ha-ha is not American. YOU are the worthless organization.

    It's going to be a flailing trolls defending the castle sort of year. When they finally admit to themselves that they raped the U.S. military on a scale unseen since Vietnam, then they can help us park the Titanic before anyone else gets hurt. Bush committed real impeachable acts in the under-deployment and under-supplying our troops. That he found no WMD but in fact released HUGE amounts of WMD that was otherwise under international control is just the tip of the impeachment iceberg the Titanic slammed into. This idiot is treating the U.S. as his own personal Exxon Valdez.

    There was a blog called "Diplomad" whose writers were FSOs. They closed it down when they were transferred, it appears, but they did some good reporting on the tsunami relief efforts, including scorching the UN's efforts. Including comparing the UN's press releases and speeches to the reality. Most interesting. Then there's the Congo sex-for-food-with-starving-kids item. It takes a lot of gassy speeches about world wonderfulness to make up for that stuff.
