DEA Agent Convicted of Embezzlement
by TChris
The former special agent in charge of the DEA's New York office, Kevin Tamez, entered a guilty plea yesterday to charges that he embezzled money from the agency.
In a statement, the United States attorney's office in Manhattan said, "Money orders bought with embezzled money were used to pay a variety of Tamez's personal expenses, including his personal credit card bills, to lease a Chevy Suburban, to buy men's suits and to repair a hot tub at Tamez's residence."
It's a dirty business, so it makes sense he'd want to keep his hot tub in good repair.
Tamez used aliases to moonlight for private investigation firms. He also gave himself a competitive edge by using DEA money and personnel to assist with some of the private investigations.
