Yes, the "cool" factor (5.00 / 2) (#23)

...and its corollary, Clinton supporters' silence and fear of ostracism, have been remarkably underanalyzed. And it's extremely widespread, from caucuses to campuses to workplaces. I am in a "creative class" profession, and we Clinton supporters are very cautious about letting people know. Peer pressure ain't just something that happens in high school.

...something that is striking me as I watch both canidates stump (and bear in my I am biased, lol) is that Hillary these days appears to be energized and having fun whereas Barack is the one who seems tired and rambling.

I have noticed that too (5.00 / 1) (#31)
by Marvin42 on Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 01:50:35 PM EST
I saw it on last Sunday Faith forum, I thought he has just not rested before he showed up. Then at the debate he seemed tired and agitated before it even began (and of course it got worse). And on his stump speech videos he looks like his heart is not in it.

I don't know what it is. I would think it is sheer fatigue, but he has been doing it for a while now and why get tired now?

I wonder if maybe he is starting to realize what the process is really like when the press is not treating you so kindly? I can't imagine it is easy for anyone, which also explains a bit of my admiration for the Clintons.

Like withdrawal syndrome (5.00 / 1) (#37)
by felizarte on Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 02:06:02 PM EST
His eleven 'wins' in a row was like a shot of psychological uppers and his lingering failure to 'close the deal' as in his losses in Texas and Ohio, a psychological let down, punctuated by his obvious poor performance in the recent Philadelphia debates.  His attempt at humor in his campaign speeches after the debate came off as mocking Hillary Clinton.

The MSM should realize by now that Hillary's supporters have the same trait as what they admire in her:  Psychological and intellectual toughness and resolve.

First: ballot bowl? Why do you torture yourself? (5.00 / 1) (#38)
by Kathy on Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 02:09:31 PM EST
second: I saw it during the debate, where it seems like O is bored with his own rhetoric.  Instead of stating his story as fresh and new, "I was raised by a single mother.  I worked as a community organizer and turned down lucrative job offers in the private sector, in order to help the poor" he just bullet-pointed it, even ticking it off on his fingers: "Raised by a single mother, community organizer, worked for the poor..."

When you speak in public a lot, it's hard to remember that not everyone has heard your story or your stump speech.  You have to present it as new every time.

In short, he seems bored with his own story--and a tad annoyed to have to be repeating it.

...they only showed the part where Hillary talked about how historic it was that a woman and an African American could be president. Of course Suzanne Malveaux interpreted that as Hillary admitted how historic a Barack Obama presidency would be. LOL. Anyway, now I can go back to BBC America.

Passion (5.00 / 2) (#41)

Yes, I feel like I know what HRC is passionate about and what she will fight for. Obama's passions, if he has any, have simply not come into focus for me.
